I got recommended some Gundam clips recently and one has a protagonist, Kamille, beat up some soldier guys for making fun of his girly name. Misaki immediately came to mind lol. You think Yata would immediately want to beat up some random guy (who isn't Fushimi) for making fun of his name?

I can absolutely see Yata wanting to beat up random guys for making fun of his name, it extra pisses him off when Fushimi does it but that doesn’t mean everyone else gets a pass. Obviously if someone’s using it in a way that isn’t malicious Yata will just tell them not to use his first name, like in Side Red it’s mentioned Totsuka did use ‘Misaki-kun’ at first and Yata asked him not to so Totsuka stopped (and then Totsuka keeps specifically using ‘Saruhiko-kun’ until Fushimi finally manages to say something). Yata also doesn’t seem to have a problem with Anna using his name so it’s clear he’s really just mostly embarrassed and would rather people use his ‘cooler’ last name or call him Yatagarasu.

On the other hand if some random guys started teasing him about it I could absolutely see Yata getting into a fight, to teach those guys a lesson. Like if Homra’s at some bar that doesn’t belong to Kusanagi and some random drunk guys somehow become aware of Yata’s full name and start heckling Yata and using his first name I can definitely see Yata just jumping them and punching them until they shut up. He might be a little more hesitant if it’s someone who’s not a combatant — like if the random guys are some salarymen versus some random punks Yata might just scare them a little rather than actually punching their lights out, but I don’t think he’d just let it go without comment. Maybe post-ROK I could see him chilling out about that a little, now that he’s matured somewhat and is I think a little less concerned with appearing cool but if pushed enough he’d probably still at least scare some people into shutting up because no one uses his first name unless he lets them.
