Today I wanted to touch upon the importance of staying hydrated. I know that what I am about to tell you is nothing new; drinking water is the number one thing any celebrity, personal trainer, health guru, etc, will advise you to do if you want to achieve optimum health. Even so, as of late, i’ve been noticing exactly how little water everyone around me drinks. I’ve spent a whole day chilling with friends, and they can literally go the whole day drinking barely any water. It astounds me. When I brought it up, a lot of them said that the reason they don’t drink a lot of water is that they simply forget. So, they don’t really get thirsty the way they get hungry.Â
Someone not used to drinking ten glasses a day will struggle to remember to fill up that glass and stay hydrated. It’s been described as a chore. So here are some tips that I find really help to keep your body well hydrated.
1. Carry around a really nice reusable water bottle. One with a design you love so that you’ll be more inclined to take it with you wherever you go.Â
2. Drink Herbal teas! Green tea, chamomile tea, tulsi tea, ginger tea...the possibilities are endless. Peppermint is my favourite. Tea is a much better option than dehydrating coffee.Â
3. Infuse your water with fruits. I love doing this. It adds a lovely flavour to your water, making it much more exciting. Mint is really nice to add as well.Â
4. Smoothies and Fresh juices - Drink those up. Not only will they keep you hydrated, they’ll also offer a wealth of other fabulous health benefits. Try one at breakfast! It’ll keep you feeling amazing all day long.Â
5. Eat water-rich foods. I’m talking about celery, cucumber, grapefruit, strawberries and watermelon. YUM.
So there! I hope this helps any of you who dislike drinking plain water!Â
