Experiment
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
So basically, because I'm sick of all the talk about AI, I'm starting an experiment where each chapter will be completely disconnected, and ppl guess whether it's AI or human. In order to lessen variables, all of the results would be released at the end, when I have deemed sufficient data gathered. Other authors are welcome to join, to add variation. Further explanation is included in the work.
I would like to call myself an artist. If you're being generous, you'd say I'm an amateur. If you're being realistic, you'd say I'm bad. I'm bad at drawing. Not inherently so, not uniquely so; I've gotten better over time, but it's hard to find the motivation to keep improving, so my skills have stagnated and my art is still at a level I would call bad. Every so often I hear the siren's song of ai in the distance. It's everywhere, it's integrated into every mainstream piece of software, every OS, every social media platform there are talentless hacks who've never drawn a day in their life who still manage to get by using ai to make art for them. Companies want you to think ai is the future, that resistance is futile. Maybe it's not so bad, I sometimes think. Maybe if I just fed it my own art, maybe if I only used it to make reference images, maybe, maybe, maybe...
NO!
That is the devil talking. If I used ai, it would only make my bad art worse. I would never be able to respect myself, I'd lose the respect of my friends and followers, and every single real artist whose work I admire would write me off as a lying, cheating, thieving, takentless hack, and rightfully so. I have too much integrity to stoop down to that level. I am a bad artist, but that still puts me lightyears ahead of the ai techbros who don't even want to try.
My art is ugly, and I'm proud.
My art is ugly, and I'm proud.
My art is ugly, and I'm proud!
I usedro draw Grott's horns curving forward, now I draw them curving back. I still think this is my favorite piece I've ever drawn:
@grottweiler check out the rest of my bad art
If you were to redesign your school mascot, what could that look like? What represents your community? Does your current mascot connect to the place it represents? What is the story of your place where you are from? Who are the archetypes, the symbols, the heroes of your community? What are the powerful animals that live in your community? What are the historic events of your place? Who do you want to cheer? What fills you up with pride? Who designed the original mascot? Who has the power to change it? What are the good things and hard things about change?

Hello, the actual person running the sideblog here, send asks with "For the AI:" at the start and I'll put the results in here. I'll try to send all of them, but I'll filter out the bad ones.
