Some Australian rock musicians should've been more famous. Hunters & Collectors, for instance, are an example of those that should have been more known outside Australia. I mean, they resemble U2, had the latter been from the land Down Under. Listen to the tune on the link to hear what I mean. One notices a certain swagger the Irish quartet had at the same time and one must also remember both of the groups debuted as the post-punk outfits. Yes, they also looked around their countries after a certain point to observe how their homelands actually influenced them. To continue with the comparison – U2 could only be their way thanks to them being from Ireland, while Hunters & Collectors were like they were thanks to Australia.
Of what secret lights are we made? Of what densities?
Hélène Cixous, Stigmata: Escaping Texts
"I do not like humans, she said. Your hearts smell of earth and sweat. You miss notes when you sing. You bleed too easily. You walk in with stories tangled around you like briars and do not notice. You trip over everything and break it. You are too real, and it is wasted on you. I lose patience."
The Dragonfly-Auctioneer, Frances Hardinge, "Unraveller"
I do not know what you feel, but I never cease to be grateful to these disciples. I am grateful for the record of every mistake they ever made, and for every blunder they ever committed, because I see myself in them. How grateful we should be to God that we have these Scriptures, how grateful to Him that He has not merely given us the gospel and left it at that. How wonderful it is that we can read accounts like this and see ourselves depicted in them, and how grateful we should be to God that it is a divinely inspired Word which speaks the truth, and shows and pictures every human frailty.
Martyn Lloyd-Jones
