What are they reacting to? Wrong answers only.
Hmmm thinking of what to doodle.
Maybe hiccup or Viggo? Or something from stolen heir? Hmmmm
Or maybe something for my mlp flying skies au ...
Ideas?
Reddit adventures numéro 2: someone replied to a poll i made about which outfits were best in the franchise basically saying that they liked the fact Astrid was dirty in HTTYD 1 but then they made her pretty and a trophy wife that only serves the purpose to be Hiccup's therapist in THW. Like, what?? Have we been watching two different franchises?
Astrid has been supportive of Hiccup from the get go, it wasn't something the writers pulled out of buttfuck nowhere for the purpose of the last film. She guided him at the end of the first movie, at the beginning of the second and at the moment end of the third - not to mention the endless compilations of her helping him out in RTTE. She's his biggest supporter! He turns to her for advice! And she's gonna help him!
And going back to one of my recent posts, yes Astrid becomes more feminine and beautiful as the franchise goes on... What's the problem? Yeah, she's conventionally attractive and not as "relatable" but it's an animated film, alright?
And also, what's so bad about her being girly? She changed because of Hiccup. Their relationship opened up a softer side of her. You can literally look up what the writers and directors had to say about it. Besides everybody got a glow up in each movie, it's not a big deal. No one has a problem with how "hot" everyone finds Hiccup in THW compared to him in the first movie...
I swear society thinks they're going one way but they're actually going the other.
I was watching some videos on Hogwarts House stereotypes earlier and it made me realise that the way I've characterized Rapunzel and Hiccup in my story makes them externally feel like the reverse stereotypes of their Houses
Rapunzel: affectionate, emotional, needs to be hugged and told she's loved or she will cry, basically a golden retriever
Hiccup: hard working, studious, grumpy, perpetually annoyed with the human race
But when you look at the driving force behind them it's completely different:
Rapunzel: "I love humans because they are strange and new and they fascinate me"
Hiccup: "I work hard because I want to grow the skills I need to help my community"
Much of Rapunzel's love is like an anthropologist's. Like how an archeologist loves history, how a zoologist loves animals, how an astronomer loves the universe. Because a part of being interested in a subject matter is to hold an inherent love and fascination for it.
So Rapunzel seeing humans is like: "Look at you! You're a miracle of creation! In all the farthest reaches of the world, here you are with a mind to think with and a heart to feel with and I think that's incredible! I want to know all about you, your hopes and joys and dreams! I think you are amazing for existing and I think you and everyone make the world a beautiful place to be in!"
Whereas Hiccup's love is a dedication to be a part of something. He sees the people that keep his community above water and he wants to shoulder that weight with them. He wants to be strong enough and smart enough and deserving enough so that what he does will make meaningful change towards protecting what he holds dear.
So Hiccup towards other people is like: "I care about you as a human being and want to do what I can to help. But otherwise I don't really know you as a person, I don't trust you either, and as a whole I don't really think I'd enjoy anyone's company because most people don't really like me. And yes, I do think people are annoying, and exhausting, and some of them really, really stupid, and sometimes I wonder why I even try, except I know it's because I can't find it in me to watch bad things keep happening and do absolutely nothing about it. It's either I take action or I die of helplessness and anger, and I think the second option sucks so I'll take the first one."

Villain: I will tear you apart Hiccup Haddock!! // Hiccup: *half scared, half turned on* do not threat me with a good time pal
Ahshs I love this. This is accurate.
Happy 10th Anniversary for HTTYD!
Words are not enough to describe how much this franchise means to me. It’s crazy to think that the first movie was released exactly 10 years ago. At a point it kind of makes me sad to think that so much time has already passed. I remember becoming a fan in 2012 when Riders of Berk was released. Ever since those days HTTYD had become a big part of my life. It makes me happy. Sometimes it still hurts to think that we’ll probably never get any new movies or TV shows etc. or that one day the fandom might be dead. But while so many people in this fandom are still active I just want to leave this here.Â
So thank you, HTTYD, for everything and happy birthday to the movie that started it all.Â
I like to pretend I’m tough but rlly I cry over movies like fucking how to train your dragon even tho I’ve seen it a million times
