Making a Meatlug (final!)
After you've added the blue spots, it's time for her larger spots! Paint the sculpted (and hot glue!) bumps (as well any particularly bumpy places on her torso). This will be on her tail, chin, torso, and the wings- add the wing dots where you please, with the knowledge they will be "blended in" by smaller dots.
Speaking of smaller dots, this step will take the longest! You should aim to fill in her upper torso, her tail, her chin, below her eyes, and the edges of her nose spots. You shall also do the "blending" mentioned previously. If it bothers you, you can add some dots to the base of her legs.
Now that her patterning is done, her face is next! Add some underbelly colour (or at least a similar colour) to her lips, use bright gold-orange to make her eyes, and maint her mouth a fleshy colour.
Once that's dry enough, blend yellow into where you want the pupils and paint her teeth.
Black is next, once that's dry. Add her pupils, paint her claws, and add the base coat onto her saddle. While you don't have to paint the straps for it, I've found it helps make it stand out better.
Infuse her with a sould whenever you please. (Add a light shine with white)
With brown, drybrush the tips of her claws. You can paint the saddle however you would like! I drybrush the badding with a dark brown and the fur with a lighter brown, before outlining the straps and edges of the saddle with brown.
Congratulations! All that's left is sealing her.

Making a Meatlug (semi-final part?)
I'm sorry, but I am NOT detailing the sculpting anymore; I think I've covered the hard parts, and the more ??? part would be painting Meatlug. The terrible terror.... Er. Rip.
Step one; a basecoat - you can have a primer base if you want, but have found that it doesn't have any affect. The base colour will be that before any patterns are added, in this case, orange.
Ive found a mix of orange, red, yellow and light brown works well for her colour, but I'd suggest using a direct reference from the httyd movie.
Once thats dry-ish, you can add (drybrush) the lighter colour meatlug has. I used a matte gold for this. I brushed over her sides, the "armpit" of her wings, lightly brushed the entire wing and the edges, as well as the legs. The legs here are mostly to make the undervelly colour fade a bit less jarring.
Next up, add (drybrush) her darker colouration; this can easily be just brown. Apply to Meatlug's neck, the seam of where her first tail segment meets her body and the seam where her second tail segment meets the first, as well as her head on the tips of of wing ears, nostrils, nose horn and eyes.
Now, once thats dry, you can do the hopefully last bit of drybrushing(?) - her underbelly colour. This goes (unsurprisingly) on her stomach, chin, undertail and feet.
Now that a gradient for that has been accomplished, its time for her underbelly scales - i did this by layering thick stripes on her underbelly
Once she's nice and dry, it's time to start her spots - while gray, they are purple/blue. While from what i can tell they are blue in light and purple in shadow, but I don't have paint that manages this effect, so I'm layering blue on areas of light and purple elsewhere.
For the blue, it will cover her legs, top of her tail, by her ear-wings, trailing from her neck under her "ears" to under her eyes, the tip of her nose, the lip of her bottom jaw in high amounts of spatter and decreasing to "fade" to purple. Her torso, from her back to her underbelly has a lighter spattering as it's going to be an equal mix of blue and purple.
Next up, part 3 - hopefully the final part!
