Houmei // Shining Wind
1/8 Scale by Alter
Once upon a time, there were three monks wandering in the forest in winter.
“Why do we have to do this, Momo-chan??” The average blond man sighed.
Beside him walked a bigger man with thick wavy hair, “We need the firewood to make fire. You don't want to die freezing, right, Houmei?”
“But why us???” Houmei sighed even louder before looking back, “...and where's Gen-san?”
Toudai also turned his body around. They found Genkai, the small braided youkai, crouching not far behind. “I sense something from this direction,” he said without turning around.
They all went into the woods and found a wounded deer. There was an arrow stuck on his back.
“Oh, is it alright?” Houmei frowned at the sight.
Toudai dropped the firewood he had gathered and quickly pulled the arrow out.
Genkai squatted near the deer and patted its neck, “She'll be alright… and she'll give birth soon.”
Hearing the prognosis, Houmei brightened up. He took the cloth he used to gather firewood to Goudai to patch the deer up.
After the deer was able to stand up and walk, the three monks bid goodbye and they went back to the direction of the temple.
“I hope the deer will be well soon,” Houmei skipped along the way back.
“She will,” Toudai smiled.
Houmei smiled bigger, “What a wonderful day it is today!”
“Toudai, Ho-san, wait!”
Hearing their names called, both monks halted.
“Where are your firewoods?”
Houmei and Toudai looked at each other and blinked.
“NOOOOO!!!”

JUMP!
Houmei
So if you only watch the Daiya anime, you’ll probably only see Houmei in the start of Season 3, when Seidou play them at Koushien. If you’ve seen the OVA or read the manga, though, you probably realise they were also the team that put Seidou out of the Meiji Jingu tournament.
That was the tournament where Ono and Furuya screwed up and they lost a run.
I find it interesting that Terajima-sensei chose to use this same team to open up the competition at Koushien in the spring. The manga obviously gives us a bit more material about that game than we really see in the animation, but odd comments - like Miyuki wondering if the runner trying to steal base picked up a hint about Eijun’s pitching from the Meiji Jingu tournament makes sense if you know they already played each other.
So my brain likes to play around with details, and there’s that moment the coach of Houmei observes that Miyuki’s basically a “rule violation” because of how fast he gets that ball to second base. With the knowledge that Houmei played Seidou once and beat them, but without Miyuki, that comment has some weight. The real difference between those two games in essence is Miyuki.

🌺 - For Etienne, Adi, and Houmei (if you feel there's enough to say!)
“Etienne… I cannot say I have spoken with them much. I donot understand their job, but they seem to believe in its importance.” A tiltof the head, “They also enjoyed some of the food I’ve made. Even some that…might have had too much spice for most here.” He pauses again, and the baresthint of a grin shows itself on his face, pleased, “Beat Vander at bokh. Thatwas… satisfying to watch.”
—
“Adi is quiet. Seems to understand I don’t care for smalltalk. Doesn’t try to push me into it. I have not spent much time around him.Perhaps I should, I might like him if I did.”
—
“Houmei? Hmm… I might have missed his name,” he pauses tothink for a moment. “Strange, that one. But… he does not seem to care, or tryto hide it. I think that is something to respect.” He takes a long sip of hisdrink, and tacks on a quiet afterthought, “I will not ask about the Namazu.”
(( thanks for the ask! ))

// I TOOK FOREVER orz Ty for the ask @superbilliam!
Adi:
"Rather quiet, but I don't think him quite so broody as others seem to. Then again, I suppose most of the time we're eating or drinking when we meet, 'tis hard to find a man to be broodish when he's talking about all the things his--friend? Paramour? I'm unsure of what it is between Adi and Zihji'li, really--is so adept at cooking. Perhaps I have simply only found him in good spirits. We've only talked a time or two and while he seems a bit troubled on occasion, he is... good-natured, from what I can tell."
Eti:
"Eti is, hm. A good influence, really. They know the importance in the work they do and have an infectious sort of good mood much of the time. They've an awareness of their vices and an actual want to improve, which shows a great deal more maturity than many."
He pauses, glancing upward as he thinks. "They mean... well, but there are some occasions where I wish they would not ask me some of the things they do. They're an excellent counselor, of course, but most of the time I'd prefer to sit with a friend. Still, they're good company."
Houmei:
"I'll not break the confidentiality of a patient to explain, but I am quite willing to let the man believe whatever he likes if that is what makes him content. He has--been through things, and if notions of royalty and jellyfish keep him stable, so be it. I don't know him terribly well, but he's an interesting sort. However, 'tis probably best I keep my distance, for his comfort."
