Original film was a dance troupe and manger end up on island. Radioactive spider bit turns manager into a monster. They hold out until a man arrives and whips them into a torch mob because women TOTALLY couldn’t do that by themselves  🙄 [eyeroll emoji, just in case it looks like something different on another.]

I’ve been looking into cases of male-on-female cannibalism in some spider species get inspired for some trash

A wider variety of woman ,including older women and female bodybuilders. Hire women writers for dialogue. Show the women being supportive and mostly not “catty”.

Don’t have monster be sole man in cast so we don’t go for a “all men are predators” symbolism like biological essentialists.  Perhaps the husband of one of the women? We can even point out that mating cannibalism is still rare in most species and play up the manager as kinda skeevy.

Include a trans woman if able. She is NOT to be killed off.

Put CAREFUL thought into the meta-jokes and who gets killed off so don’t reinforce sexism we are mocking. And avoid any other “people other than white blonde dies”.

Include a weird scene where the manspider instead of immediately attacking a woman does a mating dance, and gets angry when she just stands there in shock. This could help provide info for a scientist type character to figure out what’s going on.

Make the werespider man based on earlier D&D takes of the Ettercap: a mammal convergently mutated/evolved to be spidery rather than a clear hybrid

Could also then have him make use of the spiders on the island, and perhaps even try to replicate his method transformation on some of the women.

Have it be uncertain whether or not someone will survive/escape an attack rather than a guaranteed kill.
