Hi! How do you think weddings/mating ceremonies would work in your universe? Would they do vows? How would they be worded? Traditions? How would they work between Alpha - Omega pairs specifically?
Generally speaking it’s much the same as in our verse. Of course, varying culture to culture. Your fine/finest clothes are worn, there’s alcohol, flowers, jewelry, presents. Alphas and omegas traditionally bit each other on the necky in place of kisses, but it’s seen as a more intimate thing now, and typically the couples kiss each other’s necks, then the bite happens during their first marital encounter. Due to the popularity of this, many betas also kiss necks, but many embrace in other ways. A kiss on the lips, embracing forehead to forehead, it varies.
Honeymoons are where more of the differences lay. Camping is a REALLY common honeymoon choice, usually wherein there’s lots of land and no one else. Chases, frequently nude, are a common activity during a honeymoon, playing to ancestral roots. The point is to catch and be caught, and enjoy each other wherever that may be. All dynamics do this, though the methods vary. Betas will sort of flit around each other, pushing and pulling and flitting away in a game of catch me, catch me not. Alphas typically try to catch omegas. Usually this involves chasing, but depending on the omegas it can also mean following a well-laid goose chase, coming back to camp sweaty and frustrated to a laughing mate.
Some cultures arrange marriages, some cultures have events for capturing a single omega, some are love/affection based, some are monogamous, and some are polygamous. It varies, as do the traditions, foods, and the symbolism.
