…Did Honeystar have dementia?
I like to think she was starting to! I don't think it was getting obvious or recognizable enough the way it could be with her brother Robinclover (couldn't be trusted on walks on his own or he'd get lost, was starting to forget faces and certain cats), but as she was aging her bloodthirsty traits and tendencies just got worse and worse - along with the power corruption of being clan leader and not being checked on your decisions. I've had an ask sitting in my inbox over whether Honeystar got in trouble for hurting Cicadabuzz, and nope! She got off scot-free because it was technically an accident, but I think that further reinforced "I can hurt other cats, even cats in my own clan".
Have we ever explored Lavenderstalk and Honeystar’s relationship? I don’t remember them every interacting but it must be awkward having the clan leader as your sorta stepmom

Lav is a lot closer with Inkyfern and Whispersky! Honeystar was always kind of there as her mom's mate, and less like another parent. As they got older, I think Lavenderstalk had a lot of criticisms of Honeystar, with pressuring Inky into having Whisper in the first place, to her strictness about the code when it comes to being friends with Valleyclan and the kittypet colony. As Honey got more delusional, I think she saw Lavender as poisioning Inky away from her, but knew she couldn't make any huge moves against her - not only would Inky choose her kits over Honey every time if it came down to it, but Lav also has larger social/political support among that generation of warriors + her previous apprentices.
Obsessed with the life jacket in Iron Lung because if it was a normal ocean then MAYBE, in a movie, he could survive. Ascending rapidly at that level plus having to keep his breath the entire time, he could hypothetically survive in a movie protagonist miracle. But Simon doesn’t get that, he isn’t the center of everything. He’s just a piece. He already descended and ascended before being DROPPED to the bottom of the ocean. He’s already suffering by from nitrogen necrosis from the start! He’s literally apart of a group of people that CAN’T be diving like that in the first place!!!! Even if it was a normal ocean at a better depth he had the chance of surviving just raw dogging it, he’s already so mentally fucked from being underwater that if he did get out in a better situation, he’d end up dying because he couldn’t function mentally enough to keep his senses. The hope in the iron lung isn’t for him in every possible capacity
Plus if you ascend too rapidly it could get to the point that your lungs pop and that be another fun option
