Can I just talk about Star Wars holograms, for like just a second?
So I watched clone wars for the first time and gotta love it, but that’s not what we’re gonna focus on right now. What we ARE gonna focus on is the crazy logic that dictates the holoprojectors that all our favorite jedi, clones, and other SW characters use.
Let’s start with this picture right here.
Nothing too crazy, right? Obi-Wan is standing in front of his own holotable and can see Anakin, Ahsoka, and Rex projected on it, or at least we assume that. It all makes sense, the three here are gathered around a holo table and we’ll just assume that the sensors around it pick them up, same with Obi-Wan. Easy enough.
Hmm. So Luminara is holding here little holodisk, right? And that’s why we can see her in this scene. So she’s holding her little disk, looking at it, and we assume the sensors on the table pick up Obi-Wan. So how come in this scene, Luminara’s hologram turns to look at Anakin. Wot. Why? If we’re assuming that the little disk is how she sees every one in this control room, then how come her hologram turns to look? On her little disk, Anakin would just like, show up, right? So why does she TURN? Is she standing in the middle of the desert and then she just TURNS for no reason?
Maybe its just a table calibration thing? No, it's not ssdkdssss because literally every scene with a Holo table this happens and I just can't like why-
Every scene with the stupid holotables honestly makes no sense, none, I have to be obsessed with this now, I can’t delete this obsession. EVERY TIME! But the true and ultimate Big Sad™ is in this scene in season 7:
So Ahsoka is hiding underneath a grate or something, whatever, that doesn't matter. But, BUT she makes a noise and Maul's hologram stops talking and he LOOKS around and makes eye contact with the camera? What? WHAT? Are you telling me that this ENTIRE ROOM is outfitted with hologram table sensors? This random, nasty room that Maul uses to deal with his contacts in his underworld coalition that he runs? What is Maul seeing on his side? Is he standing in a full on freaking RECREATED HOLO-ROOM? HOW COULD HE HAVE HEARD AHSOKA! HOW! HOW? IT MAKES NO SENSE!
tldr: THE HOLOTABLES AND HOLOGRAMS IN GENERAL IN STARWARS MAKE NO SENSE SSFFFSS-
