Consider (Holo Series Book 1 of 2) • #TurnThePageTuesday • What if you knew the world was ending? That six months from now the only home you’ve ever known would be obliterated - gone forever in a cataclysmic event. Would you try to spend time with #family? With #friends? Would you accept your fate - or deny it was all happening? Or, perhaps, would you consider another option - a chance at life on a strange, #NewWorld. The real question is, can the beings offering you salvation be trusted? • So there’s a lot to like about the first entry in the #HoloSeries. I’ll start with our protagonist - #AlexandraLucas - who’s an interesting choice as the titular character due to her having a severe #AnxietyDisorder. Lead #characters are often depicted in ways that make them the most powerful, or the most valuable in some way - however #Alexandra is occasionally a liability due to her #PanicAttacks. It’s not to say that choosing her as the lead was the wrong choice - just the opposite in fact. It was interesting - & informative - reading about how crippling #anxiety attacks can be for the individual having it. It was also great to see her overcome her struggles when she really needed to. I feel like #author @kristyacevedo really did her #homework on the topic. • I also really loved the structure of the story - especially in regard to the persistent countdown at the start of each chapter. I love “#EndOfTheWorld” type scenarios - not necessarily for the destruction, but for the #HumanElement. It’s why I watch shows like #TheWalkingDead - not so much for the #zombies, but instead to see what the living will do to each other. It’s the same with this book - as you might imagine, some may handle this situation better than others. While some may bunker down & save what they have, others will ultimately riot & pillage; it’s just #HumanNature. I appreciate how this story shows the progression of it all - providing us with a full scope of the calm before the storm. • All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book - with its interesting premise, unique protagonist, & overall great writing I’d say give it a read. • My rating 9/10. • And now back to your regularly scheduled feed!
