I've been into making stuff since I was little. I started knitting back in 2016 and been crocheting since early 2024. My hobby of choice changes every so often depending on what I feel like making.

Forest Loaf

     I am not a survivalist.

I’m not attracted to the stoic’s fortitude.  Or to the individualist’s sufficiency.

I am not determined to prove myself to anyone, and that includes myself. I don’t shelter and make fire.  I don’t reclaim prehistoric animal skill.

I don’t go there to conquer it.

     I am not an herbalist.

I’m not attracted to promises of health.  Or to an equivalency of health and life.

I am not about the teas and tinctures that claim to increase vitality or hinder vice.

I don’t go there to take it.

     I am not a transcendentalist.

There is no spirit of the forest above the forest that you don’t take with you.

I am not attracted to the shaman’s guides. Or to the psychonaut’s vision. 

I don’t escape monotony by climbing up to heaven but by digging in the earth.

I don’t go there to ascend.

     I am not a forager.

I am not attracted to the predator’s lust.  Or to the leafless stomach’s appetite.

I am not to deny the stove and the fridge, the grocery, or McDonald’s.

I don’t go there to eat.

     I am not a hiker.

I am not attracted to the bigness of my calves. Or to the endurance of my heart.

I do not exercise for the sake of it itself. I don’t like the warping blur of moving quickly.  And I find the task of building strength to roam hindersome to the joy of roaming.

I don’t go there to be busy.

     I am not a trader.

I am not attracted to the forester’s lumber. Or to the advertiser’s gimmicks.

I don’t give the people what they want.  Nor do I know what they want.

I don’t go there to use it.

     I am a loafer.

I am attracted to the forest’s forest. And to life’s life.

I stroll and play.  I explore and discover and trip on roots. I stop looking at myself for once and look elsewhere. I get lost in elsewhere’s loveliness.

I go there without intent.
