When God created everything, He breathed into man's nostrils the breath of life and man became a living being. In the midst of death, the Spirit breathes into us again in Baptism to make us alive in Christ. And on the Last Day, the Spirit will one more time breathe into you the breath of life and you—in your body—will rise from the dead.

It is Jesus' Word and gifts that have made you a Christian, trusting in His work for you. It is Jesus' Word and gifts that keep you a Christian, trusting His work for you. It is Jesus' Word and gifts that will bring you to everlasting life, trusting His work for you.

On the Last Day, the Word of God will speak one more time; the Word of God will speak over the dry bones in the grave of every believer. Then bone will attach to bone, sinew to sinew, and flesh will cover those bones. Flesh redeemed at the cross will cover those bones. The Word of God will do what it did for Adam in the beginning. The Word of God will breathe eternal life into your bones, because Christ is risen!
