                  a   new   town.   lord   knows   that   the   dunne’s   could   not   stay   in   little   midwest   nowhere   after   the   news   of   her   husband   broke.   being   suspected   of   kidnapping   and   murdering   your   own   wife   tended   to   linger   in   the   public’s   perception.   so   they   packed   up   their   house,   belongings,   and   moved   further   from   the   life   she   had   known   in   new   york.   stuck   in   another   suburb   where   the   people   proved   to   be   more   entertaining   than   anything   else.   there   is   a   brief   sigh   as   she   sits   by   the   trunk   of   their   car,   watching   the   neighbors.   there   was   sure   to   be   someone   that   amy   would   be   forced   to   befriend.   it   is   only   when   she   spots   a   neighbor   that   she   waves,   taking   another   sip   of   her   long   island   ice   tea.   “   i   should   probably   introduce   myself.   ”   she   moves   to   close   the   space   between   them   as   to   offer   a   handshake   in   greeting.   she   catches   a   little   bit   on   the   end   of   her   driveway   and   forces   a   smile   with   a   laugh.   “   i’m   not   as   drunk   as   you   think   i   am.   ”
