📖✨ Yep, the book cover has won me late last year at Sharjah International Book Fair! Whose heart wouldn't give in to Suhana's DIY poster for her missing sister? 💘 I've read a couple of Chetan Bhagat's books in the past so I knew it would be a friendly read (language wise). After finishing the last chapter though, I'm not quite sure how to share my reading experience 🥴 The introduction part isn't quite intriguing, but when Alia came into the picture... The rising action has gotten me invested into the abduction mystery. Unfortunately, the good parts got sidetracked by many unnecessary elements that I don't think contributed significantly to the plot. SPOILER ALERT ~ I like the fact that the book emphasized the danger of minors being on socials without proper parental supervision since child predators just loom around this virtual world preying on curious teenagers especially this day and age of information. So I was quite taken aback when the writer highlighted Alia's past with such normalcy especially Manish's being an adult engaging into a romantic relationship with Alia who was still technically a minor at the time of his advances (among other things) ~ Considering that one of the themes of the book focuses on pedophilia and cybercrime 🤷 Alia's character almost cracked my brains too. Her maternal love was admirable, yes... but her involvement with Keshav was, in my opinion, the lowest point of this book. Especially at the middle of the novel, she had become a manipulator with the guy being the one taking steps to avoid the 'complications'. Not to mention that in the end, the two would just get away with it without a bit of consequence 😵 (but that's better than having them together and breaking up the family) 🤷 I just feel sorry for the woman in this story.
