#dirty dancing

First off, I truly believe in Patrick as Baby and Pete as Johnny. Also, if you see this as ttyg era then the age gap is cannon.

I see Patrick being a little shit about taking the watermelons to the party, but he does it mostly out of interest. So obviously no one’s gonna argue against that, and he goes into the party where he meets Pete but more importantly begins to come out of his sheltered shell, Pete much like Johnny does baby encourages him to dance (in a dirty not ball room appropriate manner like he would with his family) with all the swagger and unwarranted confidence of a guy who knows he’s the king of the scene.

Patrick had the first crush, more like admiration and wonder, he’s been suever since their first dance together but Pete falls helplessly so quickly.

Patrick would so get Ragebaited into doing the mambo performance, he’s humble, he shies away from it but the moment Pete puts down his abilities as a dancer, even though he has never danced before, he accepts taking penny’s place for the performance. So they have a dick measuring contest about it and Pete for sure isnt going to back down so why the hell should Patrick.

Baby has a natural talent for dancing, no one without a gift could possibly aspire to do what she did in a week even with how much she trained. To me, this mirrors Patrick’s talent of singing, yes practice made him perfect but it’s undeniable that he has a gift.

Their dynamic is a push and pull but Patrick always has control. Pete pretends his the one that has everything under control but really, Patrick makes the first move, Patrick decided how things will be on his own terms.

For example, in the movie, when they’re learning how to dance together when Baby gets tired of Johnny’s shit she just says okay “enough do what I want” and guess what he obeys like a dog. This is exactly the same with peterick.

Another scene I think is undeniably Peterick is the “how do you call your lover boy” it’s so clear. When they’re dancing together Pete trying to cling to him touch him all over but Patrick pushing him away, teasing him as he enjoys Pete’s desperate attempts to get all over him. After teasing the shit out of him even more, doing the flirty song and dance he gives Pete what he wants but only how he wants to. Reminds me of his onstage clinging Patrick could push him off at any time like baby did Johnny.

Another way I think Pete is similar to Johnny is how they both have to play up their physical attractiveness to achieve success in their respective careers, how they both felt used and how they were both treated like an object. Also Jonny not being the guy that you want to bring home and how Pete constantly expresses that sentiment in his lyrics.

LASTLY! The ever famous “nobody puts baby in a corner” THAT SCENE IS SO THEM LIKE YES THATS EXACTLY WHAT PETE WAS DOING THE ENTIRE TIME HE SAW ALL THAT TALENT AND WAS LIKE HELL NO YOU ARE NOT HIDING ALL THAT BEHIND A DRUM KIT THE WAY JON WONT LET BABY HIDE HERSELF TO APEASE HER FAMILY— listen they gave their respective partners the confidence to go on stage and really show themselves to the world.
