so this is a fic that i’m working on with @soupfic - it’s season 8 eddie, he’s about to move to texas but on moving day he wakes up and it’s 2019. it’s the day shannon died, to be exact. so eddie has to figure out what to do to get out of the loop! how does he save shannon? does he save her at all? what the hell is going on with him and buck, and have they always been Like That?

knowing kat and i this will be long bc we are verbose, and we keep making ourselves sad outlining it, but we’re excited to write it!

“Are you good?” Eddie asks once they’re alone again, the happy couple sinking into the crowded bar and out of sight without a second look back. And Buck– Buck doesn’t know the answer to that question. What is he supposed to say? Fine, great, just turns out I’m just the guy people date right before they meet the love of their lives, maybe they should make a participation trophy for this kind of life achievement. Maybe once, years ago, that’s exactly what Buck would have said, but instead he just feels drained and adrift and a little too conscious of all the ways discussing this with Eddie would smack of cruel irony. “The others are waiting for us,” Buck says instead, and gathers up the rest of their drink order before Eddie can say anything else.

Or at least, they stopped pretending they weren't. "That's the job, Buckley! When the chips are down, when we're in the worst case scenario, like we were today, I need to know where your head is at or people get hurt. I need to know where your priorities are, so I can account for them!" "You know what my priorities are, Cap." "No, I don't!" Chimney snapped. "I don't, because you didn't tell me!" Before Buck could respond, before he could offer a defense he didn't have, another voice cut in. The doctor it belonged to was tall but not imposing, authoritative but not unkind. "Excuse me," she said, "are you here for Mr. Diaz?" Buck's heart clenched. "Yes," he and Chimney said in tandem.

🌾 - what makes this fic grow? What do you need to make it grow?

I have been stewing on Omega Eddie for a full calendar year, at this point, because I've never fully committed to writing omegaverse before, despite how much I love it. So I have a very strong idea of what I want it to be but I also know I'm never going to actually lose interest in it, so it's gonna be a thing I throw a few sentences at whenever I'm not sure what else to work on.

So, Time, my dear Megaroo. Time will make it grow.
