I can't do much for you, Lo. I know how emotionally turbulent it can be to go back home and confront family and the past. All I can say is that you're *so* strong, and have such a big heart. Which makes you feel what everyone else is going through. Be sure to look after yourself, as well, and know that you are loved. Sending you strength, and encouragement, and big hugs to you. 1. one of the most striking sunsets i’ve ever seen was last summer. k & i were on the motorcycle heading south on lake shore drive. the sun doesn’t set over lake michigan but for some reason it LOOKED like it. maybe bc there was just this massive head of cloud over the lake, but not rain cloud, big fluffy gigantic clouds that must have been reflecting the sunset back at the city. anyway it was glorious, so many colors, the clouds over the lake looking like a whole other world above us, the light reflecting off all the buildings down lsd, zipping along on the harley in the warm evening. it was a Moment for me (:

2. the sunrise on my 16th birthday. i had one friend who turned 16 and got her license before me, so she drove a couple of my other friends to my house at like 4/5AM and "kidnapped" me for my birthday. they dressed me up in a bunch of random clothing: neon workout leggings, kids pj shorts that had dinosaurs on them i think, a huge tri-colored windbreaker, a baby bib, and bowling shoes, and then blind folded & hand cuffed me to take me to breakfast before school, so we were eating in a denny's parking lot together when the sun came up, which doesn't sound great at all, but it super was. then i had to go to school dressed up like that lmao! normally i'm very very easy to embarrass/humiliate but i actually didn't mind bc it was like a sign of being loved <3 that's more a story than a sunrise but i hope it counts.

3. at my aunt's lakehouse with my family a couple years ago. she doesn't have the lakehouse anymore but every summer she'd have like, different contingents of my mom's side over for a week. so we were there and i couldn't sleep--what else is new--and so at some point just as the sun was starting to come up i went outside on the deck with my sketchbook and watched the sun come over the lake and it was soooo majestic. honestly i just sat there in total awe. a picture didn't do it justice; it was the softest, most gradual sunrise i've ever seen, spanning such a great breadth of colors. and it was sooo quiet and being surrounded by the woods and the gentle lake fog coming up and everything. it was humbling. a True Moment of Peace.
