Three graduate students in the field of astronomy were among 29 who recently received NASA Earth and Space Science Fellowship (NESSF) awards: Samuel Birch, Tyler Pauly and Sean Marshall.
“The awards are given to individuals pursuing Master of Science (M.Sc.) or Doctoral (Ph.D.) degrees in Earth and space sciences, or related disciplines,” according to Terry Herter, chair of the astronomy department.
The winners of these awards receive research grants to continue their work in pursuit of NASA’s scientific goals. "For this round 29 were awarded out of 150 applications, so winning three is quite an achievement,” Herter said.
