I had found a cookbook by Demi Lovato called One Plate at a Time, and it's targeted toward people recovering from eating disorders or just having a difficult relationship with food. She also recognizes most cookbooks have recipes with serving sizes fit for whole families, and that we are mostly living alone now, making the recipes serving sizes 1-2. Y'all, this cookbook is so thought out with easy, normal day-to-day meals and explanations on how to cook. She even includes charts to expand your palate by saying if you like this try this. God bless Demi. It's one of the best cookbooks out there.
We stopped at two thrift shops while we were in the mountains. Small, rural thrift shops are pretty much the only place you can find old cassette tapes anymore (I like to buy the record-your-own tapes and see what people have put on them), and they're also a great resource for old cookbooks.
I actually found both, on this trip! I haven't sat down to listen to the tapes yet, but this cool Old New England Cook Book came with someone's handmade wooden cover.
The recipe book itself is c.1936, but tucked inside there was an entire page from an old newspaper from December 1988, with a bunch of different cookie recipes. My heart!
