and this also ties in with a head canon i came up with once, that stratt doenst smoke except for when she’s watching the launch of the Hail Mary - ‘I don’t smoke except for when I’m missing you’ - the ‘you’ being grace, who she would be singing to!

Always at His Side, Never in His Sight!Niki is just so fun to me. Like sure TECHNO can have this complex relationship with the royal family where he’s torn between fear and love for (his) royal family. But Niki. Well see it’s all very hammer and nail situation to her. Yes yes she’ll be nice and merciful because Techno insists they’re good (Albeit constrained) people who can’t help being born royal. Although definitely privately reserved since clearly techno is too close to the situation to step back and see how messed up it is they’re using him as a meat shield to discard the moment it’s politically inconsistent. Still, Niki is clearly the only one Techno fully trusts in the story, and given his hypervigilant paranoia martyrdom thing, really makes me curious just how Niki got there.
Meanwhile she’s plotted her way into future queendom and is already planning a series of scandalous pansexual affairs. Said fake harem also being a cover for the anarchist movement she and techno foster. And of course Techno’s eventual assassination will position her perfectly as a grieving dowager queen with too much power and not enough training ripe for the anarchist rebellion to marvelously coup her with minimal effort or bloodloss.
Well. Maybe more than a little bloodloss; once Techno’s dead at his family’s hand, there’ll be no one left to rein her in.
