on my days off, i LOVE being home. I love secluding myself to my tower (my bedroom).
today, i was made to reflect on this habit and provide an answer apropos why I never go out, even when I have enough free time to do so.
i realize that i only ever feel safe being my most authentic self amidst the familiar walls and energy of my room. amidst familiar privacy. in this space, i can explore all these lingering curiosities that come fast at me during busy days but that I have kept postponing for sake of efficiency. it is in this space, that i can finally put down my societal facade and pick up my heart's calling.
i can read. i can write whatever comes to mind. i can draw. i can paint. i can start a podcast i'd saved. i can scavenge for new albums and reflect how they make me feel. i can create vision boards of my desires. i can dabble in tarot and check in with myself.
and, sure, i often get overwhelmed by the extensive list of things i'd love to accomplish and achieve within this small frame of time but i'm eternally grateful to be able to explore my soul. my inner child. my innate curiosities, even if i end up not liking something after i've tried it. sometimes i just don't like it after the first attempt but i end up liking it after trying it a few more times in the span of years.

I'm still out at work today, but I hardly come into contact with anyone down in the dungeons of the library, so it's more or less fine. Tomorrow the #hermitting begins. My work place is requiring that either I telecommute or use #paidtimeoff, so that's happening. I don't mind working from home, but there's only so much I can do before I run out of desk work. The rest is usually on-site production stuff, which has mostly come to a halt with so much being canceled or postponed, but still. I'm also kind of worried about my student workers. We got an email saying they're trying to work out a way for the workstudy kids to still get paid, which covers all of ours, but it's sounding like the regular part-timers across campus are just shit out of luck and they haven't actually said the workstudies aren't staying in that boat.
