"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."
- George Santayana, The Life of Reason, 1905
I've heard there used to be a brief guide to Tumblr for new users that would come up when someone made an account, and it pointed them at some starting blogs to follow based on the interests they selected. Any plans to re-implement something like that?
Answer: Hello there @toasthaste.
So, if you sign up for Tumblr today, you will see recommended blogs to follow while you sign up. Last year, we also ran an experiment where we showed a post from @welcomebot to new users with some starting tips, but unfortunately, that didn’t end up helping much. We are still experimenting though! And there’s more to come, so we will keep you posted on this one.
Might we also recommend you visit Hellsite High? It is full of handy tips, though we must add: we haven’t updated it in at least a year, so we might have to audit some things on the blog or you will have to forgive us the occasional discrepancy—since it might cause confusion to new users.
Best,
—Jon and Cyle
Hi tumblr
Just graduated from hellsite junior high! Can't wait to see what hellsite high has in store!
This is the official "how to get started on Tumblr" thing. Idk how I never knew this existed before.

ORG-001 Organizzazione Pagine taggate sui blog
Fai clic su "Aggiorna anteprima", quindi su "Salva.

joining tumblr in 2022(?!?!), idk why it took me so long but i feel at home here
one thing that a lot of these "intro to tumblr for newbies" posts are missing is the biggest benefit of reblogging for the reblogger is being able to find that post if the op/intermediary user a) deletes the post, b) deactivates or c) changes the post to a picture of castiel
if you reblog something you laughed at and tag it with #laugh or #fave or whatever you can go to your blog on desktop and type in (url).tumblr.com/tagged/laugh and then see only posts that made you use that tag. 1000x more efficient than trying to find a specific post via tumblr search
if you only like the post then it gets lost in the pit of likes behind your mutuals personal posts, recipes, videos you can't watch right now, fics you mean to read, your own posts you lied when a mutual reblogged it with good tags, etc - there is no organization in tumblr likes, much less searchability.
importantly, once that post is on your blog, it WILL NOT change. even if the op changes it or the person on your dash who reblogged it deactivates it will stay on your blog no matter what unless you do something to make it disappear
