“lorenz…?”
before lorenz could even turn around, you had leapt forward and wrapped your arms around him. even after all those years, it seemed like you still treated him like a human, rather than a noble. and while lorenz had always frowned upon that behaviour, he suddenly had found it endearing.
“are you that happy to see me again~?” he teased and chuckled. but that smile vanished from his lips as soon as you looked up at him and he noticed the tears in your eyes.
“i-i wasn't sure if you had made it… it's been so long since i saw you, i always worried that perhaps you had…” you sobbed softly, only for lorenz to interrupt you.
“you thought i was dead!? me? lorenz hellman gloucester, killed in such a frivolous war?” he gasped, sounding offended that you'd assume he could've been killed in this war. truly, you should've known better than that!
for a moment, you stared at him surprised, before those tears of yours turned into tears of laughter, chuckling at his reaction.
“r-right, how foolish of me…” you giggled softly, before tightening your grip around him. “i should've known that you'd survive long enough to see me again…”
