Yvaine was too excited to stay down and wait quietly in the waiting room, so she made MANY friends. Fortunately, the new friends were happy to meet Yvaine, too.
Finally we got to go back to reunite with Tristan, who was very tired but glad to see us. And it looks like today's tests came up with an answer!
Tris has "thickened stomach walls" which may be caused by Heliobactor infection--you know, like h. pylori, the bacteria that cause stomach ulcers? This all started when he was on crate rest for the pulled hip muscle last December. The vet says Heliobactor is an infection of opportunity, that can take root when stressed. It can cause symptoms that look like both reflux and IBS (which this does, but treatment for both, plus esophagitis, has been ineffective).
We are going to treat with antibiotics and omeprazole for 3 weeks, then go back for another ultrasound to see if things have improved. If not, we will continue on with the endoscopy. It will be great if it's this straightforward.
