monday night, i arrived home from arizona feeling an intense combination of exhaustion + euphoria.. the magic of the fest spilled out over 4 days of celebrating life + music + community with 8123 family from all over the world (2017 = 2,000 / 2019 = 5,000). i was frozen + fully prepared to crash as i rolled my suitcase into my room.. i flipped the light switch + was rendered speechless. my music history nerd heart beats for stories + songs--legends like robert johnson. though, if you know his music, you know there's no legend "like" him.. (@nbctimeless did a fantastic episode on this/him, recently.. 🤓) since high school guitar class, i've been held captive at this man's mysterious story + undying songs. any music we love today undoubtedly stems from this man's strings.. i couldn't be more grateful. happy 107th birthday to the father of the blues..the reason for rock + roll. 🖤 'Never had the hardships of the world been transformed into such a poetic height; never had the blues plumbed such an emotional depth.
