From today’s practice...  keeping that second leg straight while lifting it up is still a challenge for me. I need to practice this more.
Hi! I wondering how long it took you to be able to do all your handstands? I really want to start practicing then but I have no clue where to start! Do you have any tips? Thank! Xoxo
Hi, I do headstands, just to be clear, not handstands. :)
Here are a couple of posts (link below) where I’ve talked about this before. Basically, it took me about 130 days of practicing every day against a wall before I could do one without a wall. I’d say it took me close to 175-200 days before I really felt comfortable doing that.

And, if you think you CAN’T DO IT, HERE is a video showing my first ever headstand and my 365th headstand. I truly sucked at headstands, I have horrible balance, but practice, practice, practice is the key!
Yoga day + Headstand? YES!
Today I only had time for some yoga. I felt bad for not running, but since last night's workout left me super sore, I changed my attitude about the whole thing :) I worked through all my planned movements and thought I would try the other challenge I've been working on!
A few of my goals for the beginning of the year was to learn how to hold a headstand, forearm stand, and (possibly) a hand stand. After a month of using the wall for help I moved myself to the living room to try a free standing headstand. AND I DID IT! Of course I flipped over into a back bend quite a few times first. BUT I DID IT!! So excited! I couldn't even do these as a kid!
Hmmm. . . .what variation will I try next?Â

Practicing headstands to Maroon 5 . . .
. . . .Sing to me Adam. Sing to me!
So, after I fell out of my headstand, I did a few things to work on my core, like lifting one leg up at a time (bottom row), trying to kick up and balance without touching the tree (middle row), and using the aerial hammock like I did the Swiss Ball yesterday to raise my legs up and use my abs to balance.
I kicked up like that without touching the tree a few times; I didn't realize how straight up and down I actually was until I saw these pictures. I should've been able to balance on some of those kick-ups, at least for a few seconds, but I think my lack of confidence messed me up with that and I just fell back down.
I was pretty happy with being able to get both feet up into the hammock out of a Dolphin Pose, however. I honestly was not sure I would be able to do that AT ALL. It was actually easy to do! So, that was the silver lining of the whole headstand practice today. :-)
