have u ever like?? halfway hate-followed someone? like they're kind of a dick but u like their content so u can't unfollow them. so u just kind of. scroll thru their blog but every time they say something on there u cuss them out internally
This friend on Facebook that I only keep on there just to "hate follow" I never comment on anything they post...and Facebook thinks we are BEST FRIEEEEEEENDS!!! 😣 (that loser always being the first name listed on the friends list tab and always being the result in those stupid quizzes, heck Facebook wants us practically married!!! 😂
I had a thing this morning when cleaning up my Twitter. Maybe it’s content lulls, maybe it’s quarantine brains. Maybe a change in creative direction. Whatever the case, there sometimes comes a point where people spend more time griping about a game they play or a show they watch or a series they read than actively enjoying it anymore. They start to engage with the media out of a sense of obligation, a need to finish it, or a hope it improves, or because all their friends are still there...
No. Stop.
Trust me, if you’re only in it for the people/RP/etc, then all you’re going to do is poison those connections. I’ve seen it too many times. There are other ways to stay in touch with folks without spending all your time tearing down things they may still enjoy. Come back to it later, maybe, with a fresh perspective. Or don’t, that’s OK too. But know of you spend most of your posts being about how the writing sucks the devs are terrible at X and so on...I’m going to step back for awhile. Maybe for good, if it continues. Because I just don’t need or want that.
I have absolutely unfollowed, even muted or blocked, friends (or former friends) before, too, for being so negative about things they were still active in and even spending money on and I couldn’t see why. And/Or they became so anti-everything I had to get out and detox my brain from their influence and relearn how to like, or just be OK with, some things again.
I’m also going to make more of an effort to follow my own advice, particularly about making sure my own blogs and such are the kinds of feeds I’d want to follow if I were a fandom newb looking for people in a new fandom I was excited about.

It's funny cause I never see "SJWS" hate-following people. The only thing close I can think of that's remotely close is people following blogs like "sonic-for-real-justice" or "gravity-falls-for-realjustice" because they're so hilarious to the point where you question whether or not they're secretly parody blogs or some sort of elaborate RP.
I purposely follow bad rpers/writers, just so I can laugh when I see them on my dash; especially when they try to smut.
