i assume this is abt my ama fic! in my mind, grace’s goal in connecting to the internet was not really to tell people he was alive, or to start an earth-erid cultural exchange—like i think that stuff was secondary to his initial goal, which was to Be On The Internet Again. like the guy just really missed doomscrolling, and he knew rocky would enjoy interacting with the human internet. i very much headcanon grace as a Reddit Enjoyer (probably because Weir himself is a chronic redditor and those vibes do seep through in the book narration imo), and if reddit is what he missed most then that’s where he’d go first! and he didn’t really know how to start posting without either being anonymous (not his style i think) or first establishing that he was Not Dead, Actually.

I have laughed so many times at Rocky owning people on Twitter and Reddit. But also, again, you have internet (and human!) culture captured really well. Brings me pain sometimes how accurate it is. And pain that I also cannot somehow get Rocky to make me D&D dice.
