Studying: A Harmony Drabble
Despite the frosted windows outside, Hermioneâs small sitting room stayed rather warm. The roaring fire accounted for some of this, but she suspected a lot could be blamed on the dark haired wizard sitting next to her. The movements of his hands and lips certainly werenât helping matters.
âThatâs distracting,â she told him, not looking up from the tome on her lap.Â
âHmm, Iâd say you're rather distracting,â he hummed as he skimmed along her neck before resting against her bare shoulder.Â
Her brows drew up but her eyes stayed on the page. âIâm simply sitting here. Attempting to finish this chapter.â
âYes, but youâre also- sitting there- looking distractingly- beautiful.â He emphasised his words with several kisses.Â
She rolled her eyes and flipped the page. âYouâre the one who's fallen behind.â
Harry groaned and rested his head heavily against the back of the squashy sofa.
âMaybe I should just give up,â he sighed. âGo play for England.â
âExcept Iâd hate it.â
Her lips twitched up. âYou would.â
His fingers drew lazy patterns across her thigh above her knee sock. The pad of his thumb moved under her skirt and she continued to ignore him. A study break not scheduled for at least another hour.
He spoke quietly against her shoulder. âHmmâŚyeahâŚtravelling without you,â he said, seriously. âPressâŚGirls throwing themselves at me.â
Hermione refused to give any indication that sheâd heard him.Â
âFine,â he grumbled, half heartedly. âHave it your way.â
With another sigh he removed his hand from her and leaned forward to grab his discarded textbook from the coffee table.
She couldnât help smirking at the small victory. âItâs for your own good.â
When she reached the end of her chapter she glanced over at her best friend or well-her boyfriend now. A strange yet wonderful change.
With his tousled raven strands that stood on end from their last study break, sharp jaw pointed downward as he read about the mechanics of advanced transfiguration, heat pooled in her belly. The sight of him focusing on his studies far sexier than it had any right to be. Not with deadlines looming.Â
Except he was too hard to resist. Her hand brushed against his arm before resting on his thigh. âHow about we quiz each other?âÂ
He raised his eyebrows. âAre there prizes?â
She sucked on her lower lip in the way heâd recently told her drove him mad and his hand shot out to cover hers.Â
âLike what?â she finally breathed out.
âI can think of a few,â he said, voice husky as he leaned closer.
âLike us graduating in four months?â
âHmmâŚthatâs a good oneâŚbut I thought maybe it could involve removing our clothes.â He replied as his fingers wove into her curls and kept her there against his lips. âYou know for every question we get right.â
âWouldnât that be more distracting?â she asked, breath hitching as he angled her head so he could kiss along the hollow of her throat.
âPerhapsâŚthough I was also thinking the bath would be a good place for a quiz.â
He grinned against her skin. âAs long as you arenât wearing a swimsuit.â
This piece is re-worked from a larger WIP Iâm currently writing, tentatively called Maybe Tomorrow.Â
