This year I'm trying kinder Bueno hamentaschen with a Dubai chocolate style filling. It's roasted hazelnuts blended with white chocolate and salt and then folded through toasted kataifi pastry.
Will the filling stay crispy in the oven? Watch this space

Soda would go absolutely insane with hamentaschen.
He would fill them with chocolate frosting. Ice cream. Candy bars. Sugar. Like he would just pour pure sugar into them. He would bake a cake and use pieces of the cake as filling. He would melt all of these fillings in the oven.
I can't get over how Mystery of Aaravos just like reinvented Hamentaschen. Like I know that they can't name it the same thing for fictional universe reasons, but I do need everyone to know that that is a hamentaschen and it is an inherently Jewish thing. It's a Purim cookie and it literally represents the villains (Haman's) hat and/or ears depending on the language you speak

Those are hamentaschen. And it's not just a "wow I'm surprised to see that" kind of thing, I'm concerned that this will lead to hamentaschen being adopted by the goys. I'm already seeing it cause there are a bunch of videos and articles about how to make this fiction food, and it's hamentaschen. This is not a fiction food anymore than the donuts are.
And, I don't think it would be an issue at all if more people knew about hamentaschen. Then it would be just like the donuts where it's just a fun little joke that it's called something else and everyone still refers to them as donuts in discourse. Jelly tarts are treated like something that the show made up all on their own. Well i'm telling you now that they didn't. Those are Hamentaschen, a Jewish food.
Please, if you make them, do not act like it's something new, and do not just call them Jelly Tarts. find Hamentaschen recipes and call them hamentaschen, at least recognize that they are hamentaschen.

hey quick q, did anyone else grow up kinda thinking that Frollo and Haman were the same guy? we didn't actually own this VHS but i knew he was a bad guy and I knew his hat looked Like That and if that's not Haman idk what is
I think combining two different recipes has balanced the deficiencies of both. For my tastes, this is locked in and the ratios work perfectly. I ended up prepping ingredients the night before, so the fridge may have been a factor? Who knows.
FILLING
1 cup milk
1⁄2 cup sugar
Grated zest of 1⁄2 orange
1 cup poppy seeds (grind, but not into a paste)
1⁄3 cup raisins
Juice of 1⁄2 lemon
1⁄2 tablespoon brandy
1⁄2 tablespoon orange liqueur
1⁄2 tablespoon butter
1⁄2 tablespoon vanilla extract
Heat zest, sugar, and milk on medium over the stove while grinding the poppyseeds. Throw in everything but the vanilla and cook on low until it’s a sludge. Add vanilla extract and remove from stove.
COOKIES
1 box Duncan Hines Yellow Cake mix
1 lemon’s worth of lemon zest
1 cup all-purpose flour
¼ cup vegetable oil
2 eggs
2–3 tablespoons water
Roll dough to about 2x dumpling thickness.
1 heaping teaspoon per cookie
Pinching the tops seems to work just fine. I experimented with folding but it doesn’t seem to have optimised anything.
Put on parchment paper.
Cook at 375 F for ~12 min. They turn pleasant golden brown.
Hey, Jumblr! I made two (and a half) flavours of Hamentaschen this year! Prune (the original, the best, I will fight about this*) and poppy seed because I haven't had any for a decade. I need a better recipe for these.
The "and a half" is wrapping the last blob of dough in two little triangles around two raw, frozen strawberries and throwing it in the oven with the others. Delicious!
*I hold as a very important value that esthetic opinions such as "I like flavour A more than flavour B" or "green is the best colour" and as such you are entitled to your feelings on the topic but so am I and too many people are mean to prune Hamentaschen even though theyre so good I will bake them in a studio apartment just to have some. If you don't like them, fine, you do you. If you say they're bad, we're fighting.
