christains be like: the old testament is a weird thing with weird rules that literally nobody today could possibly follow and the book was entirely written in such an old language that nobody understands it anymore like nobody speaks that language so nobody knows about it for sure
jews and people who know aramaic ig: what
My dad asking me (designated queer family) a question: I just don’t get why he would wear a dress if he isn’t a woman but I don’t know if he’s a woman I think the other guy is dating him so are they gay
Me: I don’t care and it doesn’t matter, she could be a girl it could be straight presenting but still queer gender wise he could be gender non-conforming and they’re gay they might be bi. Anyone can dress however they want and identify however they want, they aren’t hurting anyone.
My dad: so like someone could identify as a lion?
Me: sure, as long as they don’t start mauling and eating people in the street, who cares
My dad: but what genitals do they have?
Me: it’s really weird and creepy that you’re asking me that. We’re in an airport line, it’s actually embarrassing.

Idk who needs to hear this but being unwilling to follow orders, and being incapable of following instrucrions, are not the same thing. Your stupidity is not a virtue.
It should be added that peoples' inability to give clear instructions does not mean you're stupid.
Sure, naturally. It's best to consider the ratio here.
If you encounter one lunatic driving the wrong way on the highway, you encountered one lunatic driving the wrong way on the highway. But if you pass five of them in a row, the problem might be you.
I was making a joke, specifically built on how impossible the premise is. If you're driving on the highway and cross five different cars going the opposite direction, then the most likely option of what is going on is that
-> you <-
are the one who is driving the highway into the wrong direction.
I think they were pointing out that highways are rly populated so this may be accurate for you but if I passed by 5 people going the wrong direction, I’m not the issue because that’s only 5 out of the hundreds on the highway
Well, there was no clarification how fast it happens. You can pass five cars in a row in two seconds at highway speeds.
hi. adding my dumb horse to this race. For my europesn cousins.
as someone whose u.s. city has 4 interecions literally 40 meters in the air :
it is stupid, idiotically, impossibly difficult to drive on the wrong side of any major u.s. highway. there are thick concrete walls across 5 lanes and in many cases they (the opposite directions) are not even connected on the same platform.
An on ramp only connects you to the correct direction, you would have to do a full 270° U-turn at at 97k/hr. It would be jarring.
if you manage to go the wrong way, congratulations buddy that's the worst anybody has ever done it
People do the reading comprehension equivalent of this ^ to my posts every single day.
As the person who wrote those tags, I got your point just fine I just wanted to point out a potential cultural difference (which is why I put it in the tags)
I have heard this almost exact saying before but I usually hear it as, “if you’re on the highway and one person is going the wrong way they’re the issue, if everyone is going the wrong way you’re the issue”
To me, with my experiences of highways so far, 5 cars going the wrong way is a them issue. So while I get your point and your phrasing is not wrong, it’s kind of a funny image for me and I wanted to share that. That’s why I put in the tags not the reblog.
Many of your posts are victim to pissing on the poor but I don’t think this is one. No one is misconstruing your point we all get what you’re saying. A lot of us also think your highways sound way less busy than ours.
I feel like in the past ten years, boycotting has stopped being a tool for forcing action on specific policies and become a form of harassment and monastic self-denial. Less “I will not be giving my money to you until you improve these specific conditions” and more “don’t touch the contaminated thing, lest you also become contaminated.”
A million times this. You are absolutely correct and it's very foreign to me.
Similarly, protesting has stopped being a tool for forcing action from specific agencies and has become almost a social hangout to telegraph In-Group/Out-Group status.
Listen, I get it: we're all overworked and underpaid and doing things like boycotting some company because "they did a bad thing" or showing up to a "No Kings Protest" makes you feel like you're Doing Something™ which feels better than doing nothing.
But feeling better isn't actually doing better. Boycotts and protests are tools that use leverage! What is the target on the other end that you're trying to move with that leverage? Is the thing you're doing going to materially change with this action? Oh. You didn't think about that. You're just mad and want people to know? I see. Well, I'm not participating in that.
Imagine: aliens that keep humans as pets, trying to differentiate between humans actually fighting for real and play-fighting for fun and sport.
The human version of Jackson Galaxy explaining in an interview that the best indicator is to look at the body language of the other humans around them. It's hard to tell anxiously agitated and deligted, excited human movement and sound apart sometimes, but one clear clue is clapping. It's not a reflex but it is a natural behaviour they do in the wild, and therefore very easily learned and taught - if one human in the pack is a clapper, the others are very likely to pick up on it.
The interview is interrupted by the sound of a heavy thud of a full-grown human male getting bodyslammed onto the floor by another one, immediately followed by a roar of cheering thunderous applause. The human behaviour expert just nods to the direction of the sound and goes "yep, there they go again."
Another sign is whether or not they are wearing protective gear or are strategically avoiding certain spots. Humans generally will avoid the head and crotch in the play fights if they are not wearing proper gear.
And, if it seems one human is seriously injured or signaling they want out, do they pause to make sure they’re ok/stop the fight or keep going. Play fighting is not intended to seriously injure and is meant to be done with full consent so humans will generally stop if they notice their partner tapping out or injured.
In this fight, the humans have protective gear and referees to ensure they do not continue fighting after one is injured and to enforce rules meant to keep them safe
I’ve been studying equine behavior and psychology recently and it’s amazing well how this maps to horses.
Stallions play fight all the time. And seriously fight from time to time. The difference is easy to see if you know what you’re looking for.
When it’s serious, horses hold their ears down, “pinned” against their heads. They also paw the ground between attacks.
When playing, horses hold their ears forward, generally move more slowly, and don’t paw at the ground.
Same for dogs. I’ve got three very energetic dogs at least one of whom used to be more genuinely anxious and aggressive. We know they’re play fighting because they’re relatively slow, they take breaks to bow to each other or show stomach like they’re asking if it’s ok to continue, they sneeze at each other, and when they do gentle play bites they let go really fast.
Humans in unofficial and non-refereed play fights will check in every once in a while to make sure the other is still playing. That may looks like pausing for a second as a silent check in, helping the other up when they fall, or pulling their hands down to show vulnerable spots for a second. Usually in play fights it’s possible to talk and banter, the more serious it is the less possible it is to talk or do any of the check in or showing of vulnerability mentioned above without risking seriously injury.
I can’t resist drawing lily pads and revisited them for 9 pm in my hours of the day series, really thrilled with how it came out :)
Skeletor has forever destroyed our ability to come up with voices for skeleton characters.
this is like saying NASA has forever destroyed our ability to wonder what it's like on the moon. like we can still use our powers of imagination if we want to but the question's pretty much fucking settled.

Thank you
super glad this is the first piece of personal work ive done in a month, im back with a bang lads [image description] A digital full body illustration of Caleb and Phillip Wittebane from the owl house. Caleb is in his ghostly form from the episode 'for the future' and is glaring down at Phillip's cursed form with crossed arms. Phillip is lying on the ground, with his lower half melted and is holding himself up with his arms. He's looking up at Caleb with an awkward smile, and there is a text box coming from him that includes a tumblr post by lunerlagomorph that repeats the phrase ' kills you. ressurrects you. kills you. ressurrects you. kills you. ressurrects you.'multiple times, before ending with ' Are we still friends?' [end ID]
When people get a little too gung-ho about-
wait. cancel post. gung-ho cannot be English. where did that phrase come from? China?
ok, yes. gōnghé, which is…an abbreviation for “industrial cooperative”? Like it was just a term for a worker-run organization? A specific U.S. marine stationed in China interpreted it as a motivational slogan about teamwork, and as a commander he got his whole battalion using it, and other U.S. marines found those guys so exhausting that it migrated into English slang with the meaning “overly enthusiastic”.
That’s…wild. What was I talking about?
"Your people aren't very... warm, are you?"
"I don't grasp what you mean, ma'am."
"I've had you for what, ten, fifteen years now?"
"Fourteen this spring, ma'am."
"And yet I've never seen you smile. Not even once."
"It's a matter of respect."
"You don't smile to people you respect?"
"I don't smile to people I don't like, and I don't lie to people I respect. I don't like you, ma'am, but I respect you enough to not lie about it."
"Well that's rather cold."
"Then I suppose we are."

no but im so tired of how self-deprecation is always more accepted than self-advocacy. if i say i can't drive because im autistic i get questioned on how exactly that works and given a million suggestions on how to do it anyway and i look like im trying to be special so it's easier to just say im a loser. yeah i don't drive because im kind of a loser lmao. oh well. and people say lmao back and we move on. at worst they say "oh im sure you'll figure it out haha." but no interrogation!! being a loser is more respectable than being disabled. being a loser is something that doesn't make other people feel uncomfortable about their own biases. so no, no im not disabled. i don't struggle to keep friends and do the laundry and make quick trivial decisions and clean my room and brush my teeth because im autistic. it's because im a loser. it's my fault. it is what it is. at least im funny now. do you think im funny? please think im funny
Honestly OP? I think I might be able to explain why.
I have Idiopathic Hypersomnia. Currently I'm deemed not fit to drive, and if I ever wanted to I'd have to be assessed to see if I'm going to be safe on the road. Currently I'm definitely not safe to drive, I can fall asleep while walking in the street.
When I tell people I don't drive because I have Idiopathic Hypersomnia, they start giving me suggestions on what to do. But that doesn't happen when I tell them "actually, I don't really want to drive these big death machines and I think public transport is really important and it can't improve if people don't use it" and that makes them stop trying to solve it.
In their eyes, I'm saying I have a disability that prevents me from driving because it's a roadblock to something I want to do. It's not about disrespecting the disability in their eyes, it's about trying to help you because they think you're saying you need help.
But when you say you just don't want to, or when you say you're a loser, that's not a roadblock they can help with. It's you stating "I'm not doing that" and putting up a sort of boundary. By sharing something more personal like what your disability is, it's interpreted as an invitation to ask more, because you already shared something personal, if that makes sense.
In their eyes it's the same as when they ask you "how was your weekend?" If you reply with just "good" they usually won't ask more because it's just a polite question, but if you say "good, I read a good book" they'll ask what book you read because you volunteered information.
Also, unlike saying "I don't want to drive" saying you're "a loser" will make most people uncomfortable, which is why they'll only laugh and change the subject. Tackling someone's self depreciation is much harder and "ruins the mood" of the conversation, so people prefer to abort the topic to not make it depressing.
You can achieve the same thing by saying you're too disabled to drive instead of saying you're a loser, and you also avoid the awkwardness they feel about you being self deprecating. If they ask what you mean by that, say "that's personal" and they'll usually leave you alone.
As frustrating as that is, people do it with good intentions, at the very least. We like helping each other and it's interpreted as you asking for help instead of sharing a fact. It's also socialising in their eyes to ask these questions, because it's a way of getting to know you.
sO BECAUSE OF DASHCON 2 I WENT TO THE TORONTO AIRPORT AND STARTED SCREAMING AT 6AM AND NATURALLY SOMEONE THOUGHT I WAS BEING MURDERED AND CALLED BORDER PATROL AND WHEN THEY GOT HERE I HAD TO GIVE THEM MY EXPLANATION FOR SCREAMING AT 6AM SO I JUST SAID DASHCON AND ONE OF THE CUSTOMS AGENTS EYES SUDDENLY GOT REALLY BIG AND THEN HE SAID “A SECOND ONE?!?” AND THEN HE READ THE TRENDING TAG ON HIS PHONE I HAVE A GROWN CUSTOMS AGENT SITTING ON MY LUGGAGE CRYING AND CURSING AT STRANGE AEONS UNDER HIS BREATH HIS PARTER GAVE HIM A SHOCK BLANKET OH MY GOD
