Ingenious scheme of asking all of my friends for one item of clothing they have that fits and is comfortable but which they never wear, and if I don't already know, ask them their favourite colours. the thing about capitalism is that at a certain point a product reaches its maximum audience and cant really be improved (at least not while remaining profitable), but capitalism requires a product provide infinite growth, and at that point the only way to increase profits is to raise prices, cut corners, and in the case of services start adding advertisements. this is just how the system works.

Listening to a podcast and heard one of the hosts say “It’s not so much that I’m against religion, just organized religion” which is one of those stock expressions that makes steam come out of my ears every time. Religion is inherently organized! All belief systems are organized! We accept and in fact desire forms of division and hierarchy in a variety of domains of life! If what you mean is “I am uncomfortable with forms of religious observation that are not secularized and modern enough for my own personal tastes,” just say that!

the thing about being "good with kids" is all it takes is literally just not trying to control and mould them with every interaction. it's just being a normal person and engaging with them through normal interactions like having conversations and playing games. it's just being genuine and friendly and not perceiving them as lumps of wet clay you are there to shape.
