Hall Effect Sensor Applications & Working!
The Hall Effect is brought on by the type of current flowing through a conductor. This Hall Effect hypothesis was applied to numerous technologies. The Hall Effect sensor is one such device that can monitor magnetic fields. This theory is also utilized in current sensors, pressure sensors, fluid flow sensors, etc.
The linear transducers used to measure the strength of the magnetic field are called Hall-effect sensors. Working on the principle of the Hall Effect, these sensors generate a Hall voltage when a magnetic field is detected, which is used to determine the magnetic flux density.
Magnetic fields of all intensities can be measured with linear sensors. These sensors are used to detect proximity, position, and speed in addition to magnetic fields. The output voltage of these sensors is inversely proportional to the strength of the magnetic field.
Applications of Hall Effect Sensor
The following are some applications for Hall-effect sensors:
These are utilized in extremely reliable applications like keyboards.
They serve as a switch when combined with threshold detection.
Wheel and shaft speeds are timed using Hall Effect sensors.
These are used in brushless electric DC motors to locate the permanent magnet.
Checks whether the flip cover accessory is closed on a smartphone.
Detecting the magnetic field's presence in industrial applications.
This functions as a sensor to determine the fuel levels in cars.
Working Principle of Hall Effect Sensor
The Hall Effect sensor operates based on the Hall voltage principle. When electricity is applied to a thin strip of a conductor, electrons flow in a straight line. The electrons are deflected when this charged conductor comes into touch with a magnetic field that is parallel to the direction of the electrons' motion.
On one side, certain electrons are captured while others are on the opposite side. As a result, one of the conductor's planes exhibits negatively charged behavior, while the other exhibits positively charged behavior. As a result, voltage is produced and a potential difference is created.
