Bronze Furrow Bee, Halictus tumulorum Canon 7D EFS 60 2.8 f/5.6 1/400 iso: 125 Prague, Czech Republic 6/19/2024
The Great Banded Furrow Bee. Â Halictus scabiosae a male from the Netherlands. Â Note the yellow on the nose (clypeus) this is a male Halictus thing. Â Females have all dark faces, males inevitable have a yellow nose. Â Unclear why. Â There is also an almost uniform tendency to have bright yellow legs and much skinnier than females. Â This species easily handles man made habitats, nesting in large groups in hard packed paths, cut banks and hanging around in pretty much any open environment with a modicum of flowering plants. Â Feel free to repost.Â

Bug of the Day
Found this sweat bee clinging to the side of the sheet one night last July. At least, I think it’s a sweat bee (Halictidae family)...
UPDATE: Thank you to @usgsbiml for identifying this as a male orange-legged funnel bee, Halictus rubicundus.
