Book Review - Dying to Live - Monisha K Gumber
When I picked this book I honestly did not know how much I would learn or relate to it. The book is a crossover between a fiction (storytelling) and a Self Help. Brilliantly done!
Storyline - A story of a girl called Megha, whose overzealous mother, extremely understanding grandmother and more members take her through the serious roller coaster of life where high pressure, high expectation lifestyle leads to Megha feeling Anxiety and getting Panic attacks. This 3 part book takes us through how Megha reaches the epitome of not being able to handle all the pressure and then tries to commit suicide, to her learning some important things about life and then taking her life back.
Characters - The story focuses on the Life of a teen in her Higher Secondary School called Megha (A state-level swimming champion), She has a family, friends, relationships and coaches who play a vital part in her book. The intro to the book will give you a gist of all the Characters you need to know.
Verdict - I was glued from the beginning to the end. If it hadn't been for other commitments and chores, I would have finished the book the first time I started reading it. It has a good balance of hardcore topis to help you through life, illustrations that make reading more interesting, light and easy and a story that keeps you hooked. It has drama, reliability and real-life learnings to apply. The author definitely understands the Indian Society and the pressures of being a teen. The book is a good read for both teens and parents.
P.S - This was my first Review Assignment and I am so thrilled! #Book42of2020
