There and back again! Something like 3 maybe 4 years ago I dropped GW…it was a tough choice but with how the things were going I had to, the local official store wasn’t a welcoming place anymore, the new operative guidelines made it into a pure kid-reservoir, and I had no reason to go there anymore. But what about the games? GW has been doing everything wrong IMHO in the last years, wh40k is a game with no tactical depth whatsoever (no offence intended to all of those who still play it) when compared with games where every decision counts (infinity,malifaux,Warmachine/hordes); war of the ring is not supported anymore, and what about fantasy? It was mostly fine, apart from the magic phase and new-codicies powercreep…until the End Times…literally. They made the choice to nuclearize the Old World, killing every meaningful character, bringing the storyline to an end with the long predicted apocalypse (I’m looking at you flagellants). So why I came back? Because the Empire (and the vampire counts) is one of the really good things GW made, and I love them, hard, so, with the new edition approaching, and the chance to play Kings Of War with the same minis if everything goes awry, I decided to build a human army, again, this time from scratch, more or less. Plus I really wanted to build a cohesive , characterful army, with little scenes here and there and without the need to rush things to get them on the table. And I want to get it painted, THIS TIME. So, here we are, that’s the very first unit, i recycled and rebuilt those 20 halberdiers from what I had left, the Idea was to have a dynamic looking unit, the front ranks are on a unique base of plasticard, posed to look like a phalanx, the backlines are singles, to change the unit dimension at will and to allow the heroes in.
