Halalalalala! Wowzers, out of all of my forays into vegan cooking, this is hotness! I grabbed this from a book called NYC Vegan...and this is a veganized Halal Cart lamb and chicken over rice. And for those of you not from the NYC area, halal carts are food carts typically operated by someone of Middle Eastern persuasion (Midtown is mostly Egyptian from my experiences), and is grilled and chopped up lamb and chicken slathered in a white sauce, and then some crazy hot sauce. Served over rice with chopped lettuce and tomatoes. Perfection. This vegan version...holy vegan cow Batman! First, I baked and boiled my own seitan. The "chicken" is store bought Beyond brand. Both of them I marinated in their own respective marinates, then grilled to perfection. Oh, also I made my own white sauce which is cashew yogurt, tahini and black pepper. Being a non-vegan cooking for my vegan baby, I know what the halal guys serves me over by Herald Square...and this version, let me tell everyone is brilliant! #veganfood #vegan #halalcart #whitesauce #nycvegan
