One of the things I like most about collecting is discovering items that you had no idea existed and in some cases shouldn’t.
This figure falls under the strange but true it’s a Mera Figure from 1967.
The “Posin’ Doll is 12.5” tall and it was one of four DC Super Queens dolls made for girls by Ideal.
The line also included Batgirl, Supergirl and Wonder Woman.
Mera who is Aquamans wife comes w/trident and crown in addition to her comics-accurate outfit.
Box features die-cut image of Mera w/her and Aquaman's son Arthur Jr. (Aqualad is seen in foreground and Aquaman waves from bkg.) at bottom left-hand corner.
"The "Super Queens" line sold poorly and was canceled after just one series, making them quite rare. Mera being the rarest of the four.
This particular one was sold recently at auction by Hale’s. It comes from the Gary Keller Collection. Final price was over $4,500.
I could see many collectors not even knowing what this was if they saw it. Basically they are the earliest line of DC Super hero girls.
