A competent Scout who ended up stuck working for BLU while searching for his father.

Knows Spy is his dad. Knows Spy knows about him. Knows Spy is still in contact with his mom 'behind his back' (they're painfully obvious and thinks he's stupid). Hates going home.

"Scoutma" [MOTHER] - Difficult relationship. On one hand he does love her since she's his mom. On the other... she doesn't seem to prioritize him much.

6 Older Brothers [SIBLINGS] - Mixed. Closer with some, distant with others. They raised him more than his mom did, but he knows he's burdened them. He also knows a few resent him.

Spy [FATHER] - It's complicated. Scout tried to reconnect with him at some point but the man actively pushed him away. He's stopped trying. The man doesn't even want to acknowledge him anyway. Steals his cigarettes.

BLU Heavy [FRIEND] - Trusts his team's Heavy most. Is learning Russian from the man. Bonded over their love of reading then their dislike of Spy.

RED Scout [FRIEND] - The only person he's a little more mischievous and lively with. Likes playing pranks on him and with him.

Is cordial with the rest of BLU team, and polite to RED out of matches. Otherwise, a wallflower.

Character Background:

Pyralis Lykos was born to a miller in some nowhere village in a distant corner of Drangleic. All she knew growing up was that the nearby noble’s estate was off limits. Despite her longing for adventure, she was scared straight by tales of the peculiar things that could be heard inside. Instead, she did what any enterprising tomboy her age did: explore the surrounding areas and playfight with sticks. It was a very peaceful existence for her, despite getting into trouble here and there.

One particular episode was when she was found conversing with a specific girl. She seemed nice enough to Pyralis (she somehow got her to sit still long enough to birdwatch). After being expelled from the manor ground by the noble in charge, her father expressly forbade her from talking to her again. Neither got the other’s name, and neither of them saw the other after that day.

She grew into adolescence largely peacefully, learning the ins and outs of being a miller’s daughter and peasant. This was despite the rumors of the coast of the kingdom coming under attack. To her, that all felt too distant to care much about. She was just a simple village girl that kind of knew how to hold the sword her papa had in the house, after all.

However, that would all change when the King of Drangleic announced that, all across the kingdom, levies were to be raised. Among those chosen to be given arms and answer the call of their changed king, was Pyralis.

At first, it seemed all the world like the chance for adventure she had long wanted for. In actuality, she had yet to have seen firsthand the horrors of the vengeful giants. She was assigned to help hold the Cardinal Tower, where she made friends with the small handful of native-born Drangleicians left at the fort. It was during her service that she became close friends with Captain Drummond. He felt confident that, alongside the more peculiar servants of the king, they would be able to repel any attempted invasion.

How wrong he was. After only a few months of duty, Pyralis was among the first to spot the approaching armada. Dutifully, she reported it to her commanding officer. Captain Drummond gave her orders to stand and fight; to bleed and, if necessary, die for her country. She intended to do so… until she saw one of the comrades she had shared meals with turned to paste by a giant’s club. Without hesitation, she fled the fort like a woman possessed, and kept running until her legs gave out from beneath her. 

She joined with the other citizens of Drangleic, fleeing from safe haven to safe haven. She made her living as a hunter and set of hardy hands. Eventually, her travels took her from Dangleic altogether. For a time she wandered, ever fearful that the giants would come upon her and kill her as easily as they destroyed entire towns. It was during this time she learned to fight more properly. She would eventually settle in the lands of Lindelt, praying that she could find peace there.

However briefly, she did. She was welcomed as a new set of hands in a farming village in its heartlands, and she was given room and board in return for her work. In time, she and another wanderer, Katri from Mirrah, managed to secure a home of their own. The pair adopted several of the wandering orphans that the seemingly endless conflicts had made. 

Yet, all things are transient. The Curse of the Lord of Light is an inevitability for all humans. That curse strips away all, and there are none that can stop it.

Pyralis doesn’t recall any of her life when she reawakens in the Fire Keepers’ abode. Only faint glimpses of a life lived and loved. All she knows as she is directed up the path to the old kingdom of Drangleic, beyond what the Fire Keepers told her, is that she feels a great shame in approaching it. Two swords in hand, she begins her journey to overcome the Curse.

Thus did the immolated wolf enter on the deep and savage path.

Physical Description:

Pyralis is a rather unassuming looking Undead. Her only standout features are her rare red hair, her heterochromia, and the rather prominent scar across her nose. Her skin is rather pale for someone who’s spent so much time in the sun. She has quite the frame she fills out, with her arms being particularly powerful. Of womanly assets, she is fairly mundane on that front.

Her hands and arms have some minor burns and cut scars on them, but nothing too awful. She is noticeably a few inches shorter than your average Undead, and usually tries to ignore the comments of her height.

Armor wise, she wears a hood (the Imported Hood) that obscures most of her face due to the shame she feels walking through Drangleic. When she first arrived, she wore a sturdy leather coat (the Wanderer Coat) and matching boots, but when she visited Maughlin and discovered he had a surplus of old Drangleic infantry uniforms, she makes a point to buy the whole set, a strange nostalgia overcoming her. She doesn’t wear the helmet she finds later in her wanderings of the old fort, but she feels better having it.

The leathers might have been more protective, but the padded coat felt better on her frame.

Equipment: 

Unlike many of her contemporaries, she fights with two blades (a flame-empowered longsword she found on a dead Drangleic soldier and a shortsword), though she does keep a particular shield and shortbow on hand. Of these, she only came to Drangleic with the shortsword, the twin of which she keeps in Majula under Lenigrast’s watchful gaze.

External Goal: To break the Curse

Internal Goal: Discover the truth behind her feelings of shame and guilt.

External Motivation: The Curse is a ticking timebomb. If she doesn’t handle that, she’s liable to end up like the familiar-looking Hollows that stalk the land.

Internal Motivation: If she can recover but a single memory, that means others can be, too. She just needs to keep pushing until she does.

Conflict: Being in Drangleic, putting herself in danger… all of them are putting her closer and closer to a final Hollowing. She’s experienced being two feet in that particular grave, and she’s in no rush to get back to that state, but without gathering more Souls, she’ll be back there before too long…
