How could Don Jr not remember Rinat Akhmetshin when he was “wearing hot pink jeans, as well as a pink T-shirt, with loafers but no socks”?

According to a BuzzFeed News report on Monday, 52-year-old Rinat Akhmetshin received the cash payments totaling about $500,000 “in the months preceding and following the meeting.”

Trump Jr., along with his brother-in-law Jared Kushner, and Trump 2016 campaign chair Paul Manafort, took the meeting with Kremlin-tied lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya and seven other Russians, as the Inquisitr reported, after being promised that they would receive “incriminating” information about Democrat Hillary Clinton.

But when asked about the meeting in congressional testimony, the Washington Post reported, Akhmetshin was the one person that Trump Jr. could not recall.

“People have said there was an eighth person. I just can’t remember,” Trump Jr. said in his sworn testimony. “I’ve heard the name. I don’t recall now.”

According to Bloomberg News, Akhmetshin showed up at the meeting dressed in what Irakly “Ike” Kaveladze called “highly inappropriate” fashion — wearing hot pink jeans, as well as a pink T-shirt, with loafers but no socks. Kaveladze also said that Akhmetshin loudly griped about being at the meeting, asking “Why are we here?” as Veselnitskaya gave her presentation. 

Guess who else loves pink?

As you may have been able to deduce from my previous posts I live in Australia. Australia has recently introduced mandatory data breach notifications I personally think this is great. Now as a consumer, customer or client you can be sure that there is some level of accountability post breach.

If you are a bit more technical you can have a go at using an API based service to take away a lot of the grunt work of manual checking. The haveibeenpwned.com api is super simple to use and apparently widely used by corporations, individuals and governments, you can find out how to use it at this link.

Don't reuse your passwords

Stop reusing passwords this is something I have been talking about for a long time I have written about it multiple times first in "how I stopped reusing my passwords and how you can too". This is really what makes breaches dangerous to you if your account is in a breach then theres a good chance that your password or an easily crackable version password is out there forever - now it doesn't take a great cognitive leap to work out that if all your passwords are different who cares if somebody has you old LinkedIn password from 3 years ago that you used once for 3 months, it's history now.

Disposable payment methods

Worried about using your card online? don't then you can buy prepaid debit cards or travel cards where you can load money onto and spend. that way worst case you can only loose the limited amount of money you placed on the cards. Best case somebody isn't able to buy a $15000 Rolex on your credit card.

PayPal and Crypto's are also a good choice here but with their pro's there are always a few additional cons i.e. hard to get money in and out of Crypto, If your living a lifestyle where you travel often and regularly you may not be able to administer your PayPal account and dispute any fraudulent transactions.

Use good Security Apps

There is a whole bunch of good security apps out there, seriously I even wrote my own you probably heard me talk about it in "Jump the Shark" On a serious note theres a whole bunch of good free and premium security software and if you enjoy projects there is numerous handy Security and privacy projects you can easily deploy onto Raspberry Pi.

For personal use I alway advocate my own creation PassVult: The Ultimate Anti-Cloud Password manager which now has a check for breaches feature where you can see if your accounts have turned up in any breaches. But don't take my word for it theres a whole bunch of Stelar reviews Online.

Its also important to note you should always have the basics covered e.g. Antivirus and Firewall but look out for products with "Security Smarts" built in which is becoming more common for Routers and appliances to protect your woefully insecure IoT devices.

It’s funny to think how much we’ve glossed over the implications of a belligerent Russian intelligence gathering hacker corps in a nation ruled by a former KGB intelligence officer.

Really think about it ... do you honestly think that they only hacked the Democrat servers and didn’t get the Republican servers too?

We’re talking about PROFESSIONAL INTELLIGENCE GATHERING: you don’t leave anything on the table. You take everything and save all the unnecessary bits for later.

And it’s not like the computer illiterate old farts in the Republican party are any less clueless than the computer illiterate old farts in the Democratic party; probably have the same IT firm contracting for both of them.

Stone dodged a bullet. He could have served up to 10 years in prison for threatening a Judge. 2 strikes on Stone. Judge Jackson said that if he violates the new gag order, she’ll revoke his bond and throw him in jail until his trial.

I’ve looked into it and apparently “sextortionist” emails of the sort have been going around for quite a while now — this is what I get for being out of the loop and too self-involved, I guess.

I ran the email address (of mine) that it was sent to/from through http://haveibeenpwned.com to see if I’d been hacked in any way and, well, I had… (Another email I use had been part of a data breach too and that’d been used some four times.) Check that website folks! And check your spam/trash folders because that’s the only reason I noticed it after Outlook (wisely) filtered it out.

I’ve now changed most of my account information linked to those addresses, but it’s late so I’ll double check in the morning.

I also filed a report at https://www.bitcoinabuse.com with the supposed “account” information of my *cough* hacker *cough* and, much to my non-surprise, there are at least 50 other reports filed against the exact same t w a t ; same supposed date of malware installation, same ransom demand, same God-awful use of the English language.
