To give all that one can while taking naught in return; this is an ideal I aspire to live by, and one that has been practiced for over twenty-four years by the Zapatista movement in its struggle against neoliberalism and the Mexican state. Despite the global weight of colonial interests set against them, the Zapatistas have endured with an ideology based in mutual aid, horizontal autonomy through participatory democracy, and revolutionary feminism. I think it is clear that the libertarian socialist values of the movement mirror the ideals of pony society, and I think that artists should work to illustrate those parallels to help spread the seeds of revolutionary thought. Vive EZLN, vive la revolución.
