Today I’m going to show you my version of guksu (국수), a simple and delicious noodle soup, and one of my all-time favorites and go-to regular meals. My version is spicy and savory. I always have kimchi and anchovies on hand, so it’s something that I can always make quickly for lunch, or when people suddenly come over.

I am just checking off the O! Noodle brand of noodles one at a time haha this time, I’m gonna be talking about this *points below*

I’m not sure why they translated it as simple “fresh flat noodle”. In Korean, there’s a very specific term, “jan chi”, which indicates a noodle dish that is consumed during special occasions. I think banquet noodles is the best term for it in English? Anyway, the noodle dish consists of a clear, light broth, with wheat noodles & some healthy toppings, like mushrooms, scallion, & egg. It’s very simple. I imagine it’s symbolic for longevity or something like that - since in Chinese cultures, noodles are symbolic of that so when there’s like a big event (esp old people birthdays), there’s always a noodle dish.

I don’t know what happened to the usual picture of the contents .. =( I might have gotten distracted so I didn’t end up taking one. It’s all gone now since I cooked the whole package at once. That being said, the contents were similar to what I showed you before for the other O~ Noodle noodle packs: 2 noodles, 2 dried kimchi packs, seasoning packs x4 (2 of each one that are slightly different). Therefore, expect 8 separate packets inside; 4 for each serving.

I remember saying the noodles from my last O! Noodle pack, which was the kimchi kalguksu, really thick & soft, & resembled frozen udon noodles more. Well, the noodles in this pack were much better. They were soft but had a bounciness to them. Compared to the kalguksu noodles, these noodles were also thinner/smaller diameter in size, which is what I loved about them the most. Imagine a “straight” version of Neoguri noodles!
