Get the mindset of “omg they’re being so annoying talking about pride/lgbtq+ pro stuff/pronouns/news/anything about that, again” out of your head.
Maybe you really need to investigate why you find something like that so annoying?
Why is this something that upsets you?
Why is it tough for you (?🥴) whenever someone brings it up?
Why do you remain friends with someone who is a part of the community if you can’t deal with them ever being proud or worried about the very real reality that they face everyday? Or the fact they have the courage to speak about it? Is it because it might look worse if you stopped?
None of us should need to apologise for finally being able to speak (albeit barely in the sea of silencing and pot hits about who we inherently are our whole lives), or made to feel shame for talking about things that may hurt us, or even things surrounding our identities or sexualities that make us feel happy!
I’m not saying you HAVE TO ALWAYS LISTEN, I’m asking, why it seems to offend you/why you would find it annoying, every time/most times you see it’s spoken about?
Why does this trigger off annoyance?
Why does this inspire belittling, and humiliating comments towards us disguised a “jokes”?
Are these jokes being made out of your own fear and inability to deal with listening to the happiness or strife we may experience?
Is it based around us being who we are, or based around a person displaying emotions and feelings you can’t deal with: hurt, happiness, proudness, sadness, and so on?
I see people every so often who start posting micro aggressions about trans/lgbtq+ suddenly after I finally start posting again about it, or even exist in their presence. It’s ridiculous!
I’m not empathising with this behaviour, I’m asking why, because I want to know, or for these people to investigate the truth about why they’re reacting this way yet can “empathise” with a bunch of people being blown up by a bomb when they also have never experienced being blown up by a bomb, or caring for anyone who has.
Is it purely based on indoctrinated “empathy” that exists from being told to feel that way, so actually neither means anything truly, because you can’t empathise with something you don’t know? But the thing is you can do that? Or is it because in group mentality, your friends and you encourage this together? So any of you really believe it? Is it easier to rip into it? Yes it is if it doesn’t affect you. I was home schooled so never really got taught group mentality. I can’t do it, I won’t do it.
