I'll never get over how much Cardan noticed Jude; he knew her by the way she looked at him, by the way her feet struck the earth, knew she was good with a sword, her habit of hiding under the tables and knowing how much blue would complement her complexion.
Justin Duarte’s bargain with Grimsen
Lowkey we never get an explanation for this, but can we talk about it for a sec?
When Jude meets with Grimsen, he tells her the following:
So Grimsen doesn’t confirm or deny whether Justin actually made the bargain, but we can assume that he did. Because why would Holly Black even bring it up if Justin just declined it? It wouldn’t contribute to the story. So let’s say he accepted.
We can also assume that this wasn’t a straight forward bargain, like most faerie bargains, it must have been vaguely worded and obscure. Poor Justin probably didn’t know what he was gonna lose. And in the end, he lost his wife, then died himself, and his daughters got snatched away.
On the other hand, there’s also an argument for Justin not having accepted the bargain, because while he was an excellent blacksmith, his blades don’t seem to be renowned for being the best in the world. Nightfell is a good sword, but they never emphasise that it’s the best blade ever. So that might indicate that Justin didn’t receive Grimsen’s boon, after all.
Again and again, I come back to Grimsen. Despite Oriana’s warning, he’s my best bet to find a way out of here. With all his magic trinkets, maybe he’s got a pair of metal wings to fly me home or a magical sled pulled by obsidian lions. Even if not, at least he doesn’t know Taryn well enough to doubt that I’m her. And if he wants something that I don’t want to give him, well, he has a bad habit of leaving knives just lying about.
The Queen of Nothing (Holly Black)
Jude: It might work out somehow. If not there’s always murder.
Folk of the air, for the fandom ask game 😁 And if u haven't read that then Phantom of the Opera xx
for the Folk of the Air
the character i least understand: Taryn
interactions i enjoyed the most: Jude and Cardan’s in the Wicked King <3
the character who scares me the most: um... that creepy little princess (what was her name?) or Dain - it depends on the type of fear they cause
the character who is mostly like me: none? I wasn’t able to self-identify with any character
hottest looks character: it’s hard to say, if we have only book descriptions - guessing by the fanarts, it would be Cardan
one thing i dislike about my fave character: Jude? it’s hard to say - maybe the fact that she didn’t realize sooner that Locke is only playing with her? but I can’t say I dislike it, I just feel strange, when I see something obvious for me, while the character themselves don’t notice it
one thing i like about my hated character: Locke? he’s intelligent, for sure
a quote or scene that haunts me: none I guess
a death that left me indifferent: Grimsen ;P
a character i wish died but didn’t: if the theory about Locke not being actually dead will turn true in the future, then it would be him ;P
my ship that never sailed: I don’t think that any of my ships would suit the criteria - I mean, I have a few dark ships involving Jude, but I never wanted them to sail + I was totally aware that no one or almost no one ships them

Are the Duarte twins supposed to parallel Grimsen’s legendary swords? If so, which sister represents which sword?
