#gray jays

The Gray Jays are back, and trying to get into the house. They are apparently irritated that “their” deck is missing, and therefore their food station.

-really smart, good at begging but also good at stealing your sandwich when you’re not looking

-cute and pretty

-they fly really well, they flit around like robins or bluebirds, they’ve got a grace that crows don’t have

-they live in the mountains and eat pine nuts when they aren’t stealing people’s food (i see them a lot on the lift in certain places)

-they’re just really really awesome

Last weekend, my friends and I took advantage of the gorgeous weather to hike up Mt. Pierce.  It ended up being a really great hike – the weather was perfect, it was steep enough to be challenging but easy enough to be safe as we learned about hiking in the late fall.
