Wadada Leo Smith is a multi-instrumentalist and composer.
These are visual representations of one of his projects. He calls this approach “Ankhrasmation”, which combines the terms Ankh, the Egyptian symbol for life, Ras, the Ethiopian word for leader, and Ma meaning mother. He says “it’s an approach to conveying ideas to another musician that leaves a great deal of room for personal interpretation.”
They’re called “Four Symphonies”, named after the four seasons:
No. 1: Fall
No. 2: Winter
No. 3: Summer
No. 4: Spring
these painting are really beutiful and I quite like them they remind of the work of another artist Stanley Donwood who does album covers for the band radiohead, these painting especially remind me of one of his works for the album “A moon shaped pool” by radiohead I really like the use of circles and colours they remind me of NASA’s pictures of the sun or artists interpetations of them, these are works that have inspired me to try and create the same effects if i can.
