Please drop Trader Joe's a postcard! We were told in my Chicana 3212 class at the University of Minnesota that Trader Joe's does business with a grape picker who allows inhuman conditions to exist in their grapevine fields. Recently a 19 year-old pregnant woman died of heat stroke because water was not provided by the company and there was no place for workers to get out of the heat. 

Please consider dropping Trader Joe's a postcard and ask them to require the grape pickers they do business with provide human conditions or Trader Joe's will not do business with them.

Just after dawn a truck load of casual grape pickers arrived to help harvest the small patch of chenin blanc on the farm. The first sign of their arrival was the warm chit chat, that of a group of friends setting out for the day. They grabbed crates and scattered their bright colours among the vines. Returning to stack once they were full. Mostly men and women from Zimbabwe, casual laborers, they have gone now, moved on to the next farm, our vines are no longer laden with fruit.
