Rewatching old Grant eps and seeing his birthdate on the patient ID wristbands he cut off, it says he was born on 2/11/1985, making him 31 in 2016 when it took place. It's 2025 now, meaning he's now 40.
And since the two of them knew each other from their teen years, idk if it was ever confirmed they were the same age or not.
i don’t think they’re the same age. i think i talked about this with someone awhile ago but our conclusion is they really screwed up grants age, especially now knowing stella’s past. the alternative answer is that grant was potentially a pedophile or just preyed on a very vulnerable stella.
based on what we learned about stella’s family, it sounds like she stopped talking to her family around the end of high school which is like age 17 or 18 years old. and we also know it’s been 15 years since she’s spoke to cole. which means stella is about 33 right now. and based on grants hospital bracelet in season 5, grant is 40 and they’re 7 years apart (roughly).
meaning when stella was in high school, grant was already in his mid twenties. so i can’t see them being the same age. the only two options i see are accepting that grants age is messed up and basically ignoring it or that he got with stella while she was still in high school which means he’s not only abusive but a creep

this person really said that when grant showed up at mollys with a KNIFE, that “there's no denying that grants actions became dangerous, but the context was ignored”
the context being that stella tried to leave him multiple times and he kept coming back to her until finally he broke out of the hospital, stalked her on shift, then tried to kill her with a knife. is that enough context?

just read an entire blogpost about how grant wasn’t abusive toward stella and he was just struggling and then tried to paint her out to be the bad guy for not helping him 💀

i had a really sad thought,
what if stella bella was a endearing nickname from her Aunt and she used to feel love from it but then Grant ruined it ( I read this fic where she hated the nickname because Grant called her it the first timeafter they were married and after he shoved her for the first time and after she ended up in the hospital.) But I just thought this morning what if that was meant as a loving nickname from her aunt and he ruined it like he ruined everything.
Rewatching 5x01 & realizing again that Grant Smith was literally a raging abusive POS that was STALKING & harassing Stella! And despite her tough exterior, she must have been terrified when she saw that he was in her apartment. Then to turn around as she's working & see that man standing there knife in hand as he proceeded to belittle & berate her. Idc what he says, Grant had all intention of doing harm to Stella that night had Kelly not intervened. And yall, that's not even the saddest part of this story. What's sadder is that Stella said that she probably wouldn't have made it out of her teens if it wasn't for Grant. Therefore, that means her adolescent/teenage years had to have been 100x worse because she convinced herself that Grants behavior & how he treated her was better than what she experienced as a kid/teen. She believed that the way he behaved was his way of showing her love or affection. That's why she tolerated the abuse for so long. Think about it if she met Grant in her teens & we're assuming Stella was 21+ in S5, then that was YEARS of conditioning. Then, after watching her facial expressions in 5x02, when the cop asked her if he'd done this before, Grant absolutely had been abusive to her. Oh, i fear Stella NEVER knew what true love, care & affection was until she stepped foot into Firehouse 51. 🥹
