I swear to god there are people who take perfectly good life advice and twist it into something negative.

I just remembered one time at my high school (I went to a religious school) that we had a weely “chapels” (kind of like weekly assemblies/mass) and the theme of one chapel was about gratitude. We had a speaker who talked to us about how while no one’s life is perfect, it’s important to be thank fur for the things we have. That’s it. Just be grateful for what you have.

And yet afterwards, I had a classmate who complained, “they were like, making us feel bad for having stuff.”

NO THEY WEREN’T JORDAN.

Yes, no one’s life is perfect. But someone telling you to be thankful for what you have is not the same thing as shaming you for having things.

How do you hear something as simple as “be grateful” and twist it to mean “you’re bad for having things”?

People like this who take perfectly sensible life advice and make it out to be an attack on them look like this:
